The gameplay looks like a mix of animal crossing and management sim.
From what I can see:
>You build your island via terraforming and housebuilding mechanics
>People visit and you can keep them or let them go
>They help you on your farm
>You can then do events with these people related to their characters
Seems cozy

It wasn't shown in the trailer so who knows. The building editing looked pretty in-depth so I wouldn't be too shocked if we could have our own MC, it's just that I don't see any signs of it.
