You will never enjoy games as much as you did as a kid, so why bother anymore?

That applies to everything, not just games. The world is just worse in general and being an adult fucking sucks

just because you can't recapture a moment in time doesn't mean you should just give up on being happy. wtf is this logic?

Ah yes, going from point A to point B in a metal box, fucking up your lungs, having sex with random roasties and becoming a wagie, the absolute pinnacles of enjoyment.

When I was a kid in the 90s, I had recurring dreams with this aesthetic (minus the browns).
A junkyard with arcade machines and computers just left out in the dirt and weather, somehow still functioning due to incredible engineering. Sometimes I was trying to bring them back to life in the pouring down rain.

Fallout sorta touched on this but I've never really found anything else that hit the same feeling. Vidya for this feel?

Also what the fuck is going on with DEI neocortex there

i mean yes but i can attribute this to other factors like, the internet was not in everyone's home yet and the world was more mysterious, we didn't own consoles as kids so we had to go to an arcade to play, and even going to arcades was discouraged by parents because they feared our grades would suffer, we could get into bad company and start smoking etc. it was surreal to me and my friends that we could own a modern console and a tv in our own bedroom and play all night (second worlders)

But I'm enjoying games far more now that I don't suck at them? I've even replayed my favorites from when I was a kid and liked them more.

Replaying Diddy kong racing gave me a greater appreciation for it and its music.
