Yeah but SoC was much better. CoP is too easy because you get too many rewards and there are barely any hostiles in the game. You can work against any faction in quests and they will literally never turn hostile, meanwhile in SoC you have bandits, military, mercs, and monolith on your ass the whole way.

It's good. SoC is a much tighter experience overall but CoP is still a good game and very comfy. It really shines with a mod like MSO to add more life in though even if it makes the economy even easier.

It's good as a base for mods, but the campaign was bad.
Encounter design was non-existent. Never at any point in the game you're in any real danger, always can just disengage and leave.

SoC is still the quintessential Stalker game, and Clear Skies is my personal crush.
CoP is great but the big maps somewhat dampen the experience.

I like CoP the best (without mods), but I do wish they had more Laboratorys in the game

SoC is too linear and unrefined, CS is too focused on trying to be a faction-war simulator and has some poor areas, but I still think it iterated well off of SoC

CoP is the easiest to play in terms of quality of Life features and overall gameplay (like guns not being so terribly inaccurate, NPC's being easier to distinguish if they are important, anomalies being grouped together in unique locations, etc), but it is fairly short and the story is a bit shit compared to the others

I've been replaying CoP this week for the first time in years, and it's great, but the poor story and the Pripyat area itself being quite barren and small are the biggest problems

Yeah
It was a bit too easy, pripyat was too empty and the level design was too "themeparky" but the new mutants, quest variations and the freedom in which order you want to approach were all great as well them polishing up existing gameplay elements
English dub is fucking atrocious

Is 2 good? I didnt play it and avoided most discussions, but from the little I saw it seems to look and play like the previous games but with questionably better graphics that probably run like shit.

man that was dissapointing
>do 1st area
>do everything in 2nd
>all hyped for pripyat
>think it's gonna be a flood of stalkers once we pave the way
>war and massive happenings
>like longer and better than the first two parts
you do maybe 4 missions and the game ends with two optional areas, fucking blue balls, hell.

I love STALKER, but half way through S2 felt like a genuine waste of time.

There's little side content, there's no reason to visit some of the zones. Objectives constantly require you to go 2 km between missions or objectives. There's very few guides in the game for fast travel, and as you progress through the game, there's even less guides.

And the final part of the game, where you shoot shitloads of people, run like a fucking trash.

To me it felt like they made big open map and then decided to copy SOC's semi-linear game structure, except instead of loading screens, you have running for dozens of minutes.

The military is aware of the anomalies changing positions after each emission after COP, so they probably use helicopters with emission protection.

Bit of a shame how janky it is, since I think it was a pretty novel concept. Guess it was just too early for the devs to be experimenting with that.
Though that does remind me of that Global War mod that seems to carry on that 'territory control' idea

I only played Misery. It was ok in parts. Looked good when it was in fog. Characters looked fucking stupid. Has some free roam exploration. Surviving and improving situation, advancing your location list, going on into the harder and unknown maybe good gameplay in examples like this one.
Dangers making safety sacred or appreciated. Keeping safe, not being greedy, or relying on things going right by themselves. Out to get stuff, improve gear and armament. Capability extending where you can go. What you can do. Missions become an option.

Should have been refined for consoles. Better looking guns. Forced fog at all times to hide the insufficient detail of distance, especially on ground without vegetation. New models with different style, not the stupid shit that was worn. Made like COD. Easy to shoot, hard to see enemies but them easily identified down, lights off or screams. Introduce some effects if world improvement eg tessellation, parallax, more geometry, isn't enough.
Combined games. Mods. Intermediary sections so seamless instead of loads. Or transports instead of skips at the end of areas.
Just enjoy camping. Atmosphere. Explore the abandoned attempts at industry. Planned defences and society. Needs erected. Not good enough. Out competed. Or just irradiated. Undeservedly forsaken. Not their fault.

After the latest updates, Enhanced Edition is ok. The blur is gone.
There are still questionable interface upscales, but that can be modded back.

Originals with ZPR and SRP are still better. But COP EE is now ok, arguably better than vanilla now that they fixed misaligned ironsights that were present in original.
