KF1 was a more experimental, and thus more interesting game, because it had its own UNIQUE identity.
KF2 was way more streamlined and, more importantly, homogenized product.
Classes started to blend together, fun gameplay options were nerfed or streamlined for the sake of balance, gameplay suffered for these changes.
For example they kept welding but the game was obviously not made around it.
They kept sharpshooter but the game has no sightlines, maps are claustrophobic as hell and spawns cheat like crazy to close distance when you're not looking.
They kept crawler type enemies with special spawns but the game has no special spawns anymore, the alt-spawns are literally just everywhere at once.
They kept the clots but made them all ninjas from Naruto, on higher difficulties they do strange acrobatics as attack/running animations, further pushing the game towards spam, unlike the ammo conscious first game.
They made the enemies much faster but the player sprints like a snail, forcing ninja parrying to survive elite enemies.
They kept the rage mechanics for elite enemies but removed the meter for the Fleshpound, now it just always rages a few seconds in off-screen, removing all tension or tactical decision-making.
There's many more things like this.
KF2 is an experience you suffer through because of the gunplay, that's it.
I doubt 3 fixed much.
