>>716415420remember that you're talking to people who don't check the "use only 2GB of RAM" option and then complain the repacks take hours to install
>inb4 what it does or "why should i limit it i have 7 gorillion GB RAM"if you don't check it, then the repack is gonna use all the processing power it can to unpack and install multiple parts at the same time as long as they all fit into the RAM, meaning it will use ALL OF IT, taking more process power, thus slowing down the unpacking itself, making it take longer
limiting it to 2GB will tell it to only process that amout of data while uncompressing, which is technically slower, but eases the load on the unpacking, practically making it faster than using all the available RAM and only slightly slower than the expected time
as example, Lies of P is a 35GB repack, 60GB once installed, expected time on 6 cores 12 threads(my CPU) is 45 minutes, with the 2GB option checked it took 55 minutes while i could use my pc for other things, with it unchecked it took nearly 3 hours and got stuck mutluple times and pc was unusable the entire time
