Clearly what happened was that dev team thought walking around an empty over world was boring and tedious, so they just made it so you warp around when you walk towards an area. They did create a full castle grounds though, and they are not exactly the same as on ps2. Different teams made those. Apart from that, the game uses a completely different engine. The platforming on Xbox cube is janky compared to the PS2 version. Hufflepuff is purple instead of yellow on Xbox GameCube. You can tell these teams were given the same design docs and some assets, but overall, these are different versions of the game. The PS2 version has different models all over the place and generally looks better. Overall the PS2 version is the way to go with the second game. When they went back and made sixth Gen Harry Potter 1, they used the PS2 version of 2 as the base for the PS2 and GameCube version of the previous movie.
