Because capturing a sense of scale means you have to constantly keep the player's view narrowed or they go "WAO THIS HUGE FIELD IS EMPTY I'M FUCKING BORED!" See: discussion around Elden Ring
Because as soon as you enter that village and either A) half the houses can't be entered and the NPCs just say the same thing over and over or B). You CAN enter all the houses but there aren't that many of them and the NPCs are even less reactive then the illusion is immediately shattered.
I swear to god all of these fucking threads are basically just "why doesn't someone invest infinity dollars into a game that we'll still complain about? See the graphics aren't that intense, must be easy!"
