What did the dlc add? I only care about new boards. New mini games. The rest is meme trash. Im not sure why nintendo tries to come up with all these weird alt modes. Each game should launch with 300 mini games and 25 boards. Thats all we care about.

Ratio of mini games should be as follows:
175 FFA games, 25-35 can be coin based.
75 2v2 games, 10 can be coin based.
50 1v3 games, 5 coin based.

Don't care about duels mini games.

NDCube used to develop Wii Party, so that game's design philosophy of never having a "main mode" brainwashed them into thinking the same should apply to Mario Party when in reality people only give a shit about a proper board game party mode.

I found Swap Meet to be the best Wii Party mode since it actually made use of the Miis, player placement in minigames, and had strategy to it. Board Game Island was the worst since it was just a linear map with no routes or strategy so it was a glorified dice roll snoozefest.

to actually talk about the OP, i think the ideas are there, the rollercoaster and bowser live are great, but the issue comes in that it's really just more side content, which NDcube has arguably already put too many in the recent games anyway while the main game is relatively untouched for the most part. you'll play them once or twice and then go back to the regular party mode, which still holds the problems from the switch 1 version (mainly the abysmal pacing). the idea is also squandered too, a mario party where the gimmick is that it's a live broadcasted show would be a fucking phenomenal gimmick, hell if you wanted more boards neon heights is basically a movie set and you could make some good minigames out of the idea of television, but instead it's just side content which blows.

Oddly enough the few touches they did with Mario Party mode are of more interest to me than the side modes. The tag team ruleset adds more red/unlucky spaces while removing blue/lucky spaces and removes jamboree buddies entirely.

i would question why those don't exist as options for the regular party mode but at this point i expect mario party to force you to play the game the devs want you to. i don't think i've heard many good things about jamboree buddies ever since they were first revealed.
