what is it? I would love to hijack this thread to be spoonfed the latest out of the chinkheld market because I have been out of the loop and don't even no where to look anymore. I have a steamdeck but I wouldn't mind something actually portable to fuck around with especially if it apes old fun designs like OP

I do, yeah. It's worth it for short bursts of the games you'd play on it. Personally, outside of the clamshell I'd get something else as I don't like the loud, flat buttons but if you're into clamshells, this or the 34xx are good options

If you have a phone, it's likely better for you to just buy a USB-C controller. Although I'd buy one of those SP or GBC clones with sticks if said sticks had full range and we had the option to swap the face buttons out with playstation ones.

It's a nice little device and the software's pretty capable, but the durability is a big flaw.
I was literally just using mine an hour ago to play some Aria of Sorrow, and the face buttons have sunken in from the shitloads of Super Metroid randomizers I've played on the thing.
Whilst people complain about the loud clicky buttons, the real problem is they wear down too quickly and you need to mod it to prevent that from happening. I need to take a look at repairing the buttons on mine because I genuinely like using this thing for SNES, GBA, and PS1 games.

There's a similar successor model, the RG34XXSP that features a 720x480 display that shows GBA games perfectly, but looks a bit smaller overall for anything else you might play on it. It also has analogue sticks but in the worst position, but they're there if you actually need them.
It hasn't been available for as long and I'm curious if it has the same button wearing flaw, the purple one looks dope.

The sequel to it, the 34XXSP has it but people aren't fans of the dual sticks and poor screen placement. You can also add an overlay while adjusting pixels to fix the aspect ratio issue.

Got my Anbernic SP a few weeks ago. I've beaten Super Metroid, Circle of the Moon and Zero Mission. Going to alternate Castevania and Metroid until I get to Dread on my Steam Deck. I also started. Also, Pokemon sucks but it activates deep nostalgia to play Crystal and Emerald on an SP.

It's okay. Buttons are a bit stiff, screen is rather washed out, the novelty makes up for it. I'd get a 34xxSP at this point for the screen alone, I got the 34xx and the colors are waaaaay better.

It's OK. If you use any alternative OSes (which you will want to because Anbernic's stock OSes are always flaming dogshit) you'll have to set up that GBA SP logo bezel on your own with Retroarch overlays.

Also it's built really retardedly. The battery is used as a heatsink. Use at your own peril, or pursue a different handheld.

What OS has you set up the SP bezel manually? muOS has it by default and I think Knulli does too. Also, it's thicker precisely to give the chip sizeable breathing room from the battery, unlike the Miyoo Flip and the 34xxSP.

I've got one. I love this lil' thing.
battery life is great. The emulators work great (if you use MuOS. they take too long to load otherwise)
Portmaster is great for playing certain PC games.
It's got more features I haven't even started using, like streaming from a PC, a linux terminal, a rudimentary web browser (with cursor keyboard, and the worst mouse controls ever, but still.)
