My dad is an actual boomer who likes Galaga and Pac-Man, and the only remotely modern game he's ever played through is most of Metroid Prime 3.

The last console my father had was an atari 2700. Certified GenXer, would rather spend all his afternoon driking beer and watching shitty netflix movies.
Seriously, sometimes it's astounding how people can say what you do is a waste of time when they themselves don't have any real hobbies.

My mom is blind and my dad survives off fox news and college football, so not at all. I'm pretty sure my dad was one of those people that thought pokemon was literally demonic, though I got my hands on pokemon red anyway because my mom wasn't nearly as big of a bitch as him.

Actually it is pretty funny to me that my mom, who hates video games and sees them as worthless cancer, played them as a child in the 80s, yet /v/ermin pretend that video games were le heckin underground secrets until 2007.

A one armed bandit, where the only "gameplay" is choosing to pull the lever or not, is a game. This simple fact makes autistic /v/ermin shit themselves in autistic rage.

Tried to get my dad into old games and I am as old as a dad, he is 70. We played Privateer 2, Wing Commander, Monkey Island, Doom 2 and Indiana Jones and blah blah of Atlantis. I barely remember it sorry it was 1994 or whatever. After that he only played Sudoku. I remember it being really fun times. Mom never played vidya ever.

My dad had a disc album with all kinds of games; NWN, FF etc. He introduced me to PC gaming (and ttrpgs) still remember family Age of Mythology tournament where we'll play against each other. I always lost cuz I was just a little boy but it was still fun. Got him hooked on the new (at the time) XCOM. Good times. Mom got very competative in AoM but doesn't play anything anymore.

My redneck uncle, a non gamer, got an Xbox and I pushed his shit in on NHL
Around that era, I had a ps1 and my dad would play boxing with me. I'd always pick butter bean, cheap shot and dominate

My dad played the shit out of his Atari when in med school, Megamania was his jam. I’m a little incredulous about the high scores he had written down on the cartridges.

My dad did the same. Now he just works or whatever.
He gave up on me, because to him, I don't work hard enough. I'm actually kind of thankful he gave up on me though. I didn't like him breathing down my neck, constantly questioning my every decision. It felt as though he was full of disappointment and disapproval, and wanted me to live life a certain way. But he just couldn't say that outright. So I'm glad that pressure is out of my life. And I feel more free to actually pursue what I want, without some impending judgement by my dad.

My dad used to fucking destroy me in AoE and StarCraft with zero mercy. He also played AoE competitively, and played RuneScape for like 10 years with fucking excel spreadsheets he had made for the game to maximize efficiency of any given activity. Kicking the shit out of your 8 year old son who doesn't understand hotkeys in an RTS game is a helluva way to teach them to lose and not be sore about it. What a fuckin Chad
