You think Kris' horns will be important in later chapters?

Whatever Ralsei is, he was most likely in that closet to begin with. One of the first things Ralsei says is how long he'd been waiting for Kris and Susie to arrive.

If he really is something that Kris is carrying. It's because he told Kris (during the first non-bypassable "close eyes and think about susie" sequence) to pick him up and hide him (from us) in his inventory.

It's a possibility, but not too likely.
It would either mean he carried them around everywhere, or they were in the closet at school before it became a dark fountain, and they're still there.

We do know that a lot of Kris and Ralsei's old toys got donated to the school, but something like that doesn't exactly seem like a toy. It's more like a memento, or something you'd put in a box to dig through for halloween costumes.

But if he's a plushie of Asriel, then that would make a bit more sense.
Kris could have thrown it in the closet out of frustration after Azzy left for college, or it could have been thrown in with a bunch of toys getting donated to the school, kind of like Andy did in Toy Story 3. (I still don't think that was all for nothing.)
Kris being upset at Asriel would explain a bit. like how he was seemingly apathetic to Ralsei for the first couple chapters, he kept his eyes closed when looking in Asriel's room in chapter 2. When he starts pointing out the differences between Ralsei and Asriel.

I think it really is as simple as the dark world has a purple cliffs void everywhere and the fountain just brings form to it based on the objects in the light world, which means Ralsei can travel through the void using the fountain and/or the soul as a beacon. Which in turn opens up the possibility of the Knight doing the same thing.

Well, the theory that Ralsei is something Kris keeps with him assumes whatever object Ralsei is doesn't show up in the Kris' inventory that we're allowed to see. So, we couldn't check if Kris had it on him or not, and, therefore, I think Kris could've just left the headband / plushie / whatever in the closet while he went to retrieve Chapter 1. Do I think that'll be the case? I dunno. None of Ralsei's mechanics match those for the other confirmed object-Darkners, he never drops as a sparkle from anyone's pocket or turns to stone. Ralsei still seems to me to be in a sort of his own

Neither of these make any sense. Connecting Ralsei to something we've already seen in the game is trying to solve an unfinished puzzle with missing pieces by putting random shit in the empty gaps.

Ralsei is a what Kris wanted to be, a magical monster goat little brother born from Kris' devil horns.
Because of that strong connection he's able to traverse other dark worlds.

this is what I believe too, they likely were used as the catalyst for what shaped the dark world itself (which was whatever happened in the bunker)
and its why I think ralsei is the manual asriel and kris made for their game, based also on the final page drawing and why he knows the "rules" of the world (the gameplay) and the prophecy (was based on dragon blazers)

I think I saw somewhere there was some dialogue that King and Queen were characters Kris and Noelle made when they were playing as kids.
If that's the case, then all of the Dark Fountains have some personal connection to Kris and Noelle.
Kris and Asriel's old toys were given to the school, so King and Lancer could have actually been Kris' old playing cards.
Only issue is that no one recognizes Kris in chapter 1. Though, maybe the Kris save file we overwrite has something to do with that.
