I'm surprised they never brought back Viva Pinata, made it a live service game, and pumped it full of microtransaction bullshit

Viva Pinata was never that popular, was it? For a long time it was kind of my guilty pleasure fall back games but it never really was a huge IP, was it? It always seemed like it was one those "Oh yeah, forgot about that." kind of games.

This series is so incredibly fucking fun. That there isn't a new game and likely never will be is a tragedy. They could at least port trouble in paradise to pc with online functionality

A fan game call Return To Paradise is being made but likely won't be decent until like a decade later. Microsoft have an interesting thing when it comes to using their IPs which is the only reason it can exist. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/developers/rules so ironically Rare being merged into them is like the only reason this is suddenly a project. The devs are literally willing to teach people how to model. The paper fur is a rendering thing that is made mostly automatic and the design doc already have all of the plans and food chain. The only thing they lack is the manhours to go out and make every single possible model that they need.

I can't stress enough that it going to take a decade not because effort isn't being put in at all. It just the few people who actually do anything whatsoever only have so many hours per day to put the work in. Due to the rules to use the IP even the existing models on the OG game and TiP have to be completely recreated.

It was super fun and when I found out TIP existed I bought it right away
The party game was also pretty fun but definitely not a game I'd cry if the disk got too scratched up to play

Unfortunately in order to make this successful in the modern era and not be some app game they'd have to turn this into a 3D platformer and make it so that you attract and raise Pinatas for the sole purpose of playing these platformer levels.
Every level having a ton of different pinatas specific puzzles
Beating the levels gives you tools that can help you attract new pinatas and it continues in a cyclical pattern until everything is unlocked
Add in Pinata fighting, Horstacio racing, etc. and you could get it to basically be the new sonic adventure but with a better garden system
