Afaik this is more of a /vp/ autism gen war thing and less of a thing among pokefags generally but Unovafags tend to claim their gen was the last real good generation while gen 6 started the decline of pokemon. This is what they're known for and it makes people who are fans of the later gens butthurt as well as some fans of the earlier gens who consider the cutoff of when pokemon declined to be earlier. It's also always been a generation that got controversy, like the designs.
