It had very few ranged weapons and instead focused on melee combat, with a perfect guard mechanic built in. You could call in airdrops for supplies and weapons, and your airdrip could get stolen. It was all in all a really fun game, but the devs fucked it up. They emphasized more and more guns, rendering both the melee weapons and the block mechanic useless, they continued to fuck with the balance, and the game subsequently bled players once PUBG and Fortnite came out. They even released a sequel, The Culling 2, which required real money in microtransactions to play matches, and it was so unfathomably unpopular that the game was pulled from Steam an HOUR after release, and never put back up again. The devs eventually released a version of The Culling called The Culling: Origins, which was just The Culling at launch, but the damage was already done. The game's servers were shut down in 2019, and no version of the game can be bought or played anymore.
