Why are gacha games so afraid of taking risks? I'm not even opposed to Seed having a human pilot but you're telling me we don't even control the robot itself? How does invisible paint explain Seed Jr teleporting in and out of the cockpit? It's so sloppy it just feels like a last minute change made because Hoyo had zero confidence in mecha Seed selling well. These games concern themselves with mass appeal so much it kills any creative potential they have.

Mech only SEED would giga flop harder than any Male character banner. Mech only also means you can't sell a cute outfit if it can only be worn and seen outside combat.

They need that mass appeal to keep being developed, Zenless's animators are lunatics and I can't even imagine how much a single character (or even Bangboo) alone costs to make. The way Seed was handled is bullshit, but the reality is that the people who are mad about it aren't the ones spending retarded amounts of money on the game.

I'm not saying they had to have blind faith in mech only Seed, but they could've stopped at having a human pilot. Having the cute girl be relevant in the overworld while the robot takes front stage in combat would've been enough to appeal to most people. Just look at Firefly, she worked out perfectly well that way. The actual controlled character being the girl on a segway just looks ridiculous, it comes across as the devs themselves not knowing what they want.

Just speculation. If Shunguang is the Void Hunter, and they stick to void hunters in X.4, Zhao can't fit anywhere else, since 2.4 would be Ye/Ye and 2.5 is probably Angels of Delusion to align with CNY like Astra.

They live or die based on having as many people roll for a character as possible. Having Seed be a robot or spend most of her time in one would lose most of the people that play Hoyo's games. You'll need to look somewhere else if you want creativity to be embraced.

Lauma is just as overly safe as Seed. She turns into a "Centaur" but it's just a glowing travel form that will pop up in only half of her animations at most. Maybe her cutscenes too if we're lucky. The devs still want you to roll her for her human legs she'll have most of the time. I'd be impressed if she was a centaur by default, or if that centaur form at least had it's own textures.

Seed should have been a Cool semi Jaded old AI in a giant mech suit Piloted by a younger, enthusiastic intelligent construct closer designed to look robotic, more like Elfy less like Qing Yi. Both have a sense of justice, but Seed Sr. is closer to a classic war veteran while Seed Jr. is closer to a sentai character.
That said, the roomba thing is funny.

This subversive language is doubly funny when you consider that gacha is among the few genres of videogames which makes money these days instead of shriveling and dying.
It's like going to a multiple MMA champion and telling him he's not taking enough risks by not wearing tutus and anal plugs while he fights in the ring, because his usual getup isn't risky enough. Nobody who pays for MMA wants to see men in shortskirts and fetish gear, you fucking weirdo. Same goes for SEED's design. It's what the audience wants to see.

Using your own example though, lets say that MMA champion is the king of it, he ends every fight with one punch, straight to the jaw. Every round, a single punch and the opponent drops.
Every match, the exact same thing. That's fucking boring.
Ignoring the lack of zest, there's also just an issue with her design. Look at ZZZ characters and you can draw a pretty good guess on who's with what faction based on looks, except Cunning Hares because their gimmick is pulling from different factions. Seed Jr.'s design lacks that. From the girl alone, you cannot tell what faction she's a part of.
