>China releases game with goonerbait designs and somewhat fun gameplay
>absolutely skyrockets in public popularity, shits all over western gaming/devs, media coverage, trending, etc
>a couple months pass
>struggles to retain long term players
The vicious cycle, why cant games like Marvel Rivals, Genshin, Nikke, etc (all made by China) have good player retention long term as opposed to the initial highs?
>>716501924 (OP)Culture moves too quickly.
I'm still playing Rivals but I've become really good at the game so climbing comb and top fragging is a really good high for me. I think team shooters in general struggle with player counts because a lot of people need to play with friends to be comfortable.
>>716502328So zoomers quite literally have zero (0) attention span? Makes sense
What you are describing is not only ALL GAMES but ALL MEDIA. Damn dude why did the hype around indie-darling Blue Prince die down after some time? Ah shit why aren't we perpetually talking about Breaking Bad? A genuinely good show, and yet it only gets occasionally referenced!
A franchise that stands the test of time and gets enormous support is extraordinarily rare, and even then it still has peaks when new content comes out. This includes things like Lord of the Rings.
>>716502826Thats a symptom. Much more media is churned out, at a faster rate, with global reach. Compared to even a plethora of cable tv channels, its a magnitude higher. Small wonder the zoomies and alphas are spoilt for choice and flicking around as fast as possible.
>>716501924 (OP)>struggles to retain long term playersSame with western games, infact more western games die more than china
