Yeah they need to balance the bosses and combat in general. Feathered Priest is a prime example. You shouldn't be locked into a downed state after his grab and not be able to get up while he's already going into his next attack phase while you're sitting on the ground like a flopping fish and can't move. I beat him after like 3 tries, but still it's ridiculous with the way combat is.

I'm mixing it up by priotirizing the +5 magic / +5 feathering nodes. I'm only level 50 but as I dont put any points in combat stats or discipline and dont use a secondary weapon, it's pretty easy to do Magic + Feathering.

you also get it from using Evasive Maneuver, the the basic one handed sword skill it comes with which also refunds + gives you an additional skybound charge if you iframe something with it's 1.5 seconds of iframes, attacking out of dodge or evasive maneuver skips the shit first 2 parts of the combo into the looping 3 > 4 attacks, which are both single quick strikes.

If you play at 90% madness (which you should be with 1h sword), your stacks can never drop below 3 AND attack 4 (the spin) in the combo gives you a charge on every hit.

Astral Blade is way more than 7% damage tho. It has inate spellcasting buff + his special seal for even increased damage. You can see me hitting 700-1000 damage per spell on the chimera with it with pretty much 0 danger of dying.

The game is legit awesome. I'm happy I actually read the reviews and almost everyone having issue with the game was having hardware compatibility issues.

The only issues I have with the game are simple. The bosses can be a slog sometimes. I recommend installing the quicksave/quickload mod. It shaves off about 5 minutes each time running to the boss arena every time you die.

Deflect/Clash on all Disciplines block 100% damage, the same mechanics on basic attacks only block a portion of it. I assume this goes for Block too, but honestly I can't recall what weapons have what or if Block is on Disciplines at all.

Game was good. I'd honestly lop Wukong, Wuchang, Lies of P and Khazan all around 7.5 or 8/10. None of the games have ALL the pieces, and Wuchang's best bit is easily the best level design in this "genre" in like 10 years with maybe AI Limit being another contender.

Wukong has the production value, just insane variety of enemies and bosses compared to the rest. Khazan has the best combat, Lies of P is overall the most complete package.

You need to make sure to finish Fang Hao, the brides sister quest. Your friend that has poor memory He Youzai, and the white robed elder/Zhao Yun questlines.

I just spent 8 hours straight grinding probably over 100 attempts to beat the Giant centipede boss. I tried all different kind of builds and items but he finally went down on a perfect run. bosses: might be recency bias but everyone in wuchang stands out. wukong def had that quantity over quality feel because everyone died to the same tricks.

I just wish things were a little more balanced around damage numbers. 800 health in two hits compared to you swinging your axe 6 times to get 800 damage. It's not balanced. You fight enemies who only hit stun from charged power attacks to the back and can kill you in two hits....it starts to get old.

Maybe im misremembering Dark Souls, but that tracks for my first experience with the game.

My theory is that its balanced that way for a game where your ability to stunlock an enemy unless a mini boss is pretty high. So that means if you space properly and always get the first attack in youll take no damage, combine this with the existence of the shield and stamina management, and youve got a decently complex combat system with solid risk vs reward that honestly almost feels like a fully 3D fighting game at times.
