You WILL enjoy the intermissions. They spent a lot of time on this and you will appreciate it.

>>716504958 (OP)I enjoyed them in free roam, but I want to race on the well designed tracks that were made specifically for racing. I just stopped playing matchmaking after the update. It is a shame because not only are they stopping people from playing a good game, but forcing intermissions are going to leave a bad taste in peoples mouth and make them not like the open world and reducing the likelihood Nintendo will ever do it again. Nintendo did a terrible job of showing off all the hard work they put into the world.
I don't mind the intermissions per se, but when you spend less than half the race on the actual race track, which is where 90% of the interesting pieces of the map are located, then it feels like a bad deal. They needed a to either make the intermissions a lot shorter or a lot more interesting. As it is now, it just seems like an experiment with weak execution. And it's too bad, because when you're in free roam it quickly becomes apparent how much effort went into building the world, but it just doesn't come through in the gameplay.
>>716504958 (OP)I beat 150cc maybe two weeks ago or so and I can't remember a single new track except the DK bit in the first cup
But I already enjoy them.
>>716504958 (OP)>They spent a lot of time on thisI find that hard to believe.
>>716510215The course designs are boring and all feel similar to play, but that is still a lot of work on the assets to creating a good visual feel for the world. It looses impact when it is every single race, but they actually did nail the feel on transitioning between different areas and into and out of race courses. Plus, the part where they spent a lot of time on is the areas around the track that you will only see if you go out of your way to collect ? panels and P switches. The more interesting things you can find in the world outside of the race tracks are not used as part of the intermission courses.
