The worst part about Terraria is not carrying items around, but rather storing the metric gorillion of items over the course of your playthrough. You need a massive amount of chests for the game's one billion items, and that means spending hours and hours every single fucking run to build an organized storage room.

The solution is don't design 800,000 individual pieces of bullshit you need to keep track of and sort. But that's downstream of "quit making crafting games and quit adding crafting to games that don't need it."

Terraria chests should have as much storage as the inventory currently does. Having to make a long ass row of like 2 dozen chests every play through is ridiculous

every game with inventory should at the bare minimum have a search bar that highlights items

You know you don't have to keep every item you come across.

Is inventory management not an appropriate problem for a hoarder to have?

go download a simple storage mod, its just a bunch of chests connected with wires and tubes and you can access / search / find everything in a single box.

I really like the pots in Shiren games.
Sounds stupid but I like the risk/rewarding of different types and the sheer risk when you are dealing with unidentified pots.
For exampl3, if you find something like a antiode grass but you hot no room, risking a smash-only pot for something that you might not need un the short term (like Bananas) is a trade off. Dumping something you know isn't cursed into a purify pot just for the storage sometimes is the better option to squdge through.
The mall dungeon in S4 is a great example, you aren't likely gonna have a way to stop food from rotting so doing something silly like putting a banana in an identify pot and then smashing it early is a nesscessity.
Just adds more flavour to the inventory management, not just extra storage upgrades but with effects and risks.

It's more about showing the progress I've made through what I have found and what I no longer need.
It is satisfying to see the collection of armors, weapons, and accessories I have put away during the climb to better things.
I also rarely tear down anything I built in pre-hardmode when I get more blocks or NPCs and instead add onto my mega structure.

The moment that devs don't try to accomodate gamepads in order to keep the option open to expand to consoles or the retards that imitate these crippled by design interfaces because they simply assume that the big studios know what they are doing.

Why not just allow the player to have unlimited inventory space? I fail to see how a limited inventory adds anything to Terraria. It makes the game such a hassle.

It's absurdly simple: It forces you to return to your base, an extremely important aspect of games like this. You don't want the player to keep exploring forever in one sitting.
