Why is this game much more difficult than previous Mario Karts? CPU doing crazy shit coming out of nowhere all the time and endless item spam while you never get anything good when you fall behind.

CPUs get better if you do lots of tricks and shortcuts I think

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one thinking this.

One reason, I think, is more racers and the way it works out is you have a big central cluster that you're lucky to break out from. And when you do, you're constantly at risk of getting shelled and dropping 2-3 places and not being able to recover.

This I haven't noticed and if you fall behind you deserve it.
