Okay. I can pirate entire full games in mere minutes. I think that's more magical than playing a couple levels of shovelware and a 2 minute demo of a good game.

You had to pay for the magazine. Free demos didn't exist until XBL came around, and that was also the era where game sizes weren't retarded, and the demo contained the full game, so a quick purchase and unlock key later, you had the full thing.
