I never played destiny 1 & 2 did I miss out on something good? I remember liking the e3 2013 gameplay.

no. 1 is alright because they fixed a lot of problems with it as time went on
2 is just a disgusting excuse to milk wallet and engagement.

1 was good but you 'had to be there'. 2 was fun up to a point where they started removing content you paid for. After Warmind it went downhill and it's been a shell of its former self. Storyline also went to shit. Instead of a proper build-up you're just dumped somewhere in a mission and you have no idea wtf is going on. The original Red War campaign with you losing your powers (temporarily) was a solid intro to the game.

Nowadays it's a classic live service slop gear threadmill where it invalidates your progress periodically and you have to shelve out full cash for the expansions, even then you have to buy additional content (dungeon keys, season passes) for even more money to access dungeons n shit and everything the latest DLC has to offer.

It's a shame, since the core gameplay (including PVP) is really fucking solid. Like 10/10 top tier solid. It's just broken beyond repair with the shit story and the aggressive focus on monetization.
