I think I'm trying to figure out if the payoff is worth it — it's so many hours of effort. And once you get good, then what?

>spend thousands of hours learning how to play "correctly"
>devs completely negate all that overnight by nerfing your character into the ground and putting in overpowered DLC characters so lil Timmy can whoop your ass for $5.99
Complete humiliation ritual. It's no wonder the FGC all troon out. Go learn a real skill.

well considering it should take anyone with a frontal lobe like 4 hours to become an evo champion level player in these lobotomized modern games why not?

To get good? Unless you actually enjoy the work that goes into it, no. Learning fundamentals and just playing casual is fun though and much easier since you can apply them to most fightan.

if there's one you think looks fun enough yeah, there's really no other genre that hits in the same way, but you have to find a game that makes you actually want to put in the time and stick with it
Don't be one of those people just bouncing between the shitty modern games every time they release DLC just because they're new and they get FOMO, I don't think those people have much fun

Does it sound appealing? I like the idea of fighting people in fighting games. I like how it feels to run and jump and land my combos, how it feels to knock the opponent down and predict their move and punish them, how it feels to pressure them with block strings, how it feels to abti air a jump in. It just feels really good. Even just wiggling the stick and mashing buttons feels good. If you like the idea of fighting games maybe youll like playing them and if youre afraid to lose just Mash with fellow shitters until you get good. Itll take a while to get good, but it will go faster if you got a friend who knows what theyre doing and they can guide you through it

If you have any sort of ambition to "get good" I would say No because by the time you get gud enough to be expert the game would have expired and everyone moved on to the next slop release.

If you want longevity and your knowledge to carry on past the games current iteration your only option is fightcade games.

Play for fun against other trash people. But don't look past that desu.

>Is it worth getting good at fighting games?
Not at all.
>Is it worth playing fighting games with friends locally?
Yes.

No, the fanbases all just move on to the next game like CoDfags, so your time spent learning all the little intricacies is completely wasted on a dead game.
