Still in awe at how gargantuan the 5200 is. Thing's the width of a fucking ATX computer

Atari 400/800 was the absolute king of gaming computers for 3 years or so until the C64 came out

7800 was good but the controller was trash. Use a 2600 or Genesis controller

They're all shit for different reasons. To be honest in 2025 I can't see anybody booting up any of these. There's no true classic games, just nostalgia.

Eh there's some actual classic greats on the computer side, like Star Raiders and Ali Baba
But I assume you were probably just talking about the consoles

Outside of memes like ET or nostalgia I've found it hard to find any good old Atari games even when intentionally looking. There's the obvious Centipede, Pac-Man, Asteroids, and random things like Rescue in Gargamel's Castle or Halloween but so many of the good games either have objectively better arcade versions you have easy access to or just have better updated versions of said games that make the originals mostly irrelevant outside of nostalgia. Then there's the fact that even when you do find decent titles they're what would be considered glorified minigames in this day and age.

I mean their arcade hardware is GOATed for its era, but that's probably not what you are talking about.

I always hated how they incorporated their joystick controller design into fucking everything despite NEVER feeling good to use and the one time they omitted it, they included some shit ass dial pad.

Yes.
That's why every time history of video games topics comes, ATARI is mentioned.
Spectrum and C64 granpas can shut the fuck up.

Not at all. The premise of Atari arcade cabinets are flashing lights for drunk people. They could never touch the Japanese. Even a shitty Japanese company like Nintendo was able to come over here and eat their lunch.

Show me a better console than the atari 2600 from 77-84.
The NES didn't get any decent games until 85.

The Lynx had some neat ideas for its time, it's arcade ports were the best of their era, and the screen was pretty superior to most others in their day.
