Okay so I got an idea for a new spin off to replace judgment.
It focuses on Akiyama and delves into the dark side of Japan's business and finance world.
I call the game "Black Money" as a nod to "Yamikin" the Japanese term for a loan shark, as well as an unintentional reference to Black Monday from Yakuza 3.

Story has more problems. Some of them arent exclusive to just 8 (like kicking off adventure, sudennly one gun in cutscene completely changing dynamic of situation, characters/factions nerferd, forgotten or written off so plot can happen), but 8 just does them worse.
How many games are we going to pretend that we're sending Kiryu away and man getting welldeserved break? How many times Ichiban will be baptised to be future of yakuza? Pretty much every tweest and theme in 8 was not only already been done previously in series, but it was executed better as well.
Ichiban isn't fitting MC for mainline game. I can see him carrying a more whacky sidegame. Even writers agree, which is why Kiryu is there.

Idk, that doesn't seem the only problem the game has. It's atrocious what they did to ichiban. They tried too many things. Story feels like it's written to a 6 year old target group. Everything boils down to haha, funny or omg, I'm sad.
