Look, I don't even hate the combat in this game, it's flashy and feels fine.
but this tiny segment toward the end where you get to play as Gladio (only if you choose NOT to play as Noctis, which I doubt many people did even though his segment is a fucking terrible slog) feels so much better than the rest of the that it makes me sad, it feels like a simple but high quality ps2 action game in the vein of Bujingai meets DMC-lite.
times blocks to build up the rage meter and consecutive attacks to build up Tempest feels legitimately nice and snappy, even just RUNNING around as Gladio feels better than Noctic, what were they thinking?
