Each character to play like they're plucked from different genres / their respective game(s). Co-op.
Zelda dungeons full of locked room children's puzzles where the solution is obvious but you still need to push blocks for several minutes.
Moderate hype until they actually show something.

I am pretty hyped. The only problem is that the last good darksiders (genesis) was made by Airship Syndicate and not Gunfire.

How will this game even work solo? Will you be able to swap Horsemen on the fly? Will the puzzles be designed so anyone can solve them or you'll need specific characters for specific parts because of the different abilities?

If Wincott is back then definitely Death. Otherwise probably War. But we have no real idea how Strife is going to play yet in 3D action that's not like Genesis

REAL ACTION COMBAT, like Darksiders 1 and 2. That original God of War and Devil May Cry 3,4,5 style combat system with lots of moves and mechanics that can be chained together in a robust combo system

Even more soulslike than 3 or if they do go back to original action Darksiders then the characters will all feel neutered and have smaller movesets than War and Death from 1 and 2 and all the horsemen are going to feel the same to play
Optimally it will be like Devil May Cry 5 where each character has a strong fleshed out moveset with unique mechanics. I'm sure that at least one of them is going to feel shallow though. 4 characters is a lot if you are going to make an action game like that.

I'm hoping it's going to feel like a PS2 game and be like even if the characters haven't met up in the story you can still just pop in to play together outside of when they do actually meet up in the story.
I'm willing to bet there's going to be a couple sections where the game forces you to play as each horseman so you can learn their moves and skills and puzzle solving properties etc.

Wokeness which is a concern for all modern games. The series has been woke free though so I'm hoping it stays that way.

A ten honestly. Not many games these days get me hyped but Darksiders is one of my favorite franchises and hearken back to the good old AA game era.

Honestly I love how perfectly average these games are and I think that’s what makes them enjoyable. They aren’t trying to do 1000 things at once, it’s just quite simple and it’s refreshing.

The ending for DS1 was so hype back in the day and I’m looking forward to its resolution.

From what I remember he had elemental ammunition and could make shadow copies of himself. That's about it. The gunslinger gimmick is his main thing, that and the deadpool rip off personality. Honestly wish they would have went a different way with that last part, his humor was fairly grating in Genesis.

Strife has two guns with swappable ammo types, a dagger to do hit&run combos with, magic grenades, traps and shadow clones.

starts off exactly where 1 ended; it's the tutorial segment introducing you to each character's unique playstyle
all 4 of the horsemen stay together for the majority of the game. if that isn't the case, they have their own mini campaigns, mise en scene, where they meet again and are all permanently together around the middle of the game (likely after doing their part in a plan).

Strife being like Gunslinger Dante would be what you would expect him to play like after 1 and 2. Now I don't know after 3 went for a way more souls-influenced style of combat for Fury.
It's obviously not going to be a top down twinstick shooter type of game like Genesis.

There is no way this game ends up being good. It will be a mess.

I own the first two games but I can't bring myself to play any of them because they feel super lame to play.

I dont want dozens of random diablo loot weapons like 2. That shit was so tedious. I'd rather each of them all just have their own predefined weapons. Like War having his Sword from the end of the 1st game and Death using a Scythe and so on.

I feel like Darksiders has always just been a melting pot of what the devs liked and thought was cool from other games. Then they just put it into context of a story about the apocalypse and angels and demons and such.
Every Darksiders game is a mish-mash of a good half a dozen or even more other games.
