You have no honor
>>717168175 (OP)I for one, liked klingon honor guard and I'm upset we don't get more klingon games about killing shit with a batleth
>>717168175 (OP)Where is the line between save scumming and just loading a save?
If I save the game before a big fight, die and then reload the save, is that save scumming?
>>717168175 (OP)the game allows you to
>>717168278Using saves to brute force luck dependent things or reverse mistakes would be scumming imo. Just doing it to avoid a walkback or something like that is fine
>>717168510Real life allows you to jump in front of a train, so go do it
>>717168175 (OP)The devs have no brains for allowing it in the first place.
>>717168175 (OP)goddamn it worf. I was about to make a save state on stage 6 of bayou billy.
In the face of defeat, honor is just a cope for losers.
>y-you didn't play fair
I won, you lost.
>but you cheated!
I won, you lost.
>muh honor
I won, you lost.
>you're a bad person if you don't gimp yourself with a set of arbitrary rules I decided upon myself
I won, you lost.
GIT GUD SKRUB
regardless of what mike matei says, savescumming on old bullshit nes games is ALWAYS justified because they're 100% horseshit.
>>717168175 (OP)Fuck off Worf, you got beat by a barrel.
>dev intended
>no a cheat
>normal mechanic
where's the problem?
>>717169043The problem is you're not following the rules some shitlord loser invented.
>>717168175 (OP)>He'd rather bring shame to his house by losing
>>717168175 (OP)I agree, but I do it anyway. It's "dishonerable" but it's NOT "cheating", and that's where I draw the line. I will savescum, even in a game that doesn't technically allow it (eg have to do it through windows), for anything. But I won't use cheats or console commands or anything like that in most cases.
Take Nightreign as an example. I COULD run a cheat program to hack in any arbitrary relic I want (for those who don't play the game, relics are RNG shit that have up to 3 randomized traits each, you keep them permanently between runs and each character can equip 3 relics). Instead, I'll savescum for 8 hours straight by manually copying and pasting the save file in Windows and still fail to get the ones I want.
>>717168175 (OP)not my fault that the devs didn't bother to make a checkpoint system
>>717168175 (OP)The only circumstance where save states can be justified is if you're trying to intensely practice something, Or you have to get off and you want to pick up where you left off(good for SMB3). Using them under normal circumstances ruins everything about the experience and you absolutely did not beat the game and deserve death.
So... I lied.
I cheated.
I used a save editor to edit my save file. I now have an account on the cheat engine forums.
But the most damning thing of all...?
I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it ALL OVER again, I would.
PirateSoftware was right about one thing: a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for solving the puzzles of Outer Wilds.
So I will learn to live with it... because I CAN live with it. I can live with it.
Computer -- erase that entire cheat table.

>Worf gets his bat'leth
>it's inferior in every way to the hand phaser
>>717174781>inheriting all the most stringent parts of fed cultureWorf is the way he is because when he was being raised on Earth he had no idea how strong he was in comparison to humans and accidentally killed a boy while playing sports. So while other humans of TNG era can be a bit uptight due to their culture, Worf's is just a product of childhood trauma.

Where is the honor in trying to beat a rigged game? Where the honor in letting RNG determine your victories?
There is none. Save scumming is a consequence of bad design more than lack of skill.
While you're being "honorable" I'm chopping my way through my library, having fun, and enjoying the same outcomes you are, but in half the time, and less frustration.

>>717194419Not one of the better episodes. Episodes like The First Duty, Final Mission and The Game are some of my favourite Wesley episodes. I think they wrote him initially in a way that they didn't know how to resolve. They set the character up for failure but he had some good potential. It's clear by season 7 when they were wrapping up everyone's storyline that they had to just rush him out the door to his final destiny that was hyped up from the start and it was pretty lackluster.

I wish they did more with Dax and the Trills. It was clear that the relationship Sisko had the Dax's Kurzon, Jadzia, and Ezri was student, equal, and mentor, but they didn't really lean into that as much as they needed to. The handful of episodes they did about the Trills like honoring the Klingon Blood Oath or Sisko arguing with Dax when it was forcibly removed from Jadzia by another Trill were super cool.

TNG > DS9
DS9 has great writing but it's not really trek. Too much focus on interpersonal drama. When I watch TNG I'm amazed when they encounter the unknown, explore crazy anomalies, meet weird and godlike aliens. DS9 was lacking it so much that they invented the defiant so that they could go do space ship episodes, but I still don't feel any sense of wonder when I'm watching the DS9 crew explore the unknown like I do when I'm watching the TNG crew. DS9 suffers from.the common pitfall of sequels of being just a story IN the trek universe rather than being a trek story.
Also while I love the DS9 crew I fear Data alone is probably better than all of them.

To "direct an episode," an actor had to enroll in the Paramount director's program which meant hours of classes and study, and basically learning at the hip of more experienced Paramount directors who worked on Trek but also elsewhere on the lot.
It was a big commitment and not a lot of them stuck with it (Patrick Stewart only directed one or two, Picardo gave up because it was too much work, etc).
The guys who actually became successful TV directors outside of Trek, ironically enough, are mainly
>Tom Paris>Torres>Geordi>RikerTom Paris and B'elanna's actors both ended up directing quite a bit of stuff for TV in particular
