The first 2 numbers are the generation of card. The last two are the model. In both cases higher is better but a high end old card can beat a low end new card in some cases. As I understand it production isn't perfect and the TI cards are the best of their respective models

The real way of looking at those names is that they don't matter.
You look at benchmarks, then you look at the price. Maybe look at power consumption too if you're a nerd who can think ahead. Only retards worry about if a 5060 should have actually been a 5050 or a 2070 or a 333ti.

They aren't. People not realizing they are getting garbage for inflated prices doesn't make the prices worth it. If they weren't allowed to lie in marketing and had to be honest with how garbage it all was people wouldn't pay as much.

Meme GPUs
>5050
>5060
>5060 Ti 8GB
>5070
>5080

Overpriced GPUs
>5060 Ti 16GB
>5070 Ti
>5090

Speaking broadly
XY0 (Ti) (Super)
X = generation (bigger is newer)
Y = placement in stack by size of die (bigger is better)
Ti = placement half step up
Super = part of the generational refresh (near universally better than equivalent non-Super, usually released a year later)

As an example:
5070 Ti
50 = part of the 50 series
70 = the high end of mid range or the low end of high range, however you'd prefer to think of it
Ti = more powerful than the standard 70 (but still weaker than the 80)
no Super = part of the original release of the 50 series, likely to be phased out for a slightly faster Super version in the near future

Considering MRSP usually only is the cost the store is paying plus the price it costs to keep something on a shelf and a little extra, selling below MSRP is usually only a tactic to entice the people iinto buying other things while they're there that have a larger profit margin.

That's because Best Buy was selling at razor thin margins. And while a lot of other businesses similar to Best Buy are gone, it isn't doing too well now either. They completely got rid of their physical media section (music and movies), and I think the main reason they're still around is because Geek Squad is the only computer repair place that normies know of.

I generally wait until a card has nearly or actually double the vram and performance as the card I currently have for a similar price before I even think about upgrading. Went from a Radeon 5770 to a Nvidia 960 after years of running it into the ground, waited nearly 10 years and got an 3060 Vision OC that has extra vram and rendering power for shit like blender. I'll wait until the 2030s and then I'll probably scoop up something with over 20gb of vram for about what I paid for this 3060. Honestly very happy with my upgrade curve and no games I play have really challenged the 3060 yet. No I will not buy new product and get excited about next product. Have had the same PC case since 2006. People getting excited to buy new GPUs and CPUs is why the market is like this. Have some restraint and maybe things won't be so fucking lame in the future

It works but it is the dark souls of AI. a 7900XTX is about half as fast as a 4090 at flux image generation. WAN2.2 image to video is 6-10 minutes per generation with 800x360 original image size. I frequently run out of memory even with 24GB VRAM.

If you want to goof around with local AI exclusively then find the cheapest 3090 you can, next best bet is 4090. But beware Nvidia is fucking with CUDA and is actively trying to kill the 30 series for AI workloads because the 3090 is too good.

If the 5070 was 16GB I would've bought that but I didn't want to upgrade other components either and get 5070 TI. It's somewhat better than the 1070 and has newer features and rendering in Blender among other things is sped up immensely.

There needs to be a game that justifies a huge graphical upgrade. GTA6 is going to be a year late on PC and 2 years later before being modded if even possible.

It was a patrician card and Njewdia NEVER allowed themselves to produce a GPU that good ever again.
Great pricing, great performance, minimum energy consumption to the point it only needed to be connected to the Motherboard.

In fact, the xx50 series after the 1050 series are as you said, pajeet tier dogshit only found in non-gaming laptops or cards that have less than the minimum required broadband and a re gimped on purpose.

After 2000 series, there is nothing but absolutely the worst kikery imaginable.
The 5000 series are a travesty and dropped the 32 bit support.
Forget about backwards compatibility, you will be playing unoptimized UE5 chinkware that struggles to run games on 2k and 4k is a pipe dream unless you turn on AI powered bullshit so you feel like you are playing games on a fucking Stadia.

The good news is that Nvidia is not hiding this reason why even finding a 4050 or a 5050 series is impossible because not even vendors want it for the same reason nobody wanted a 30-40 series back when, might as well buy a fucking pre-build.

I had a 1070 which I upgraded in January last year, because playing games at 1080p on low/medium settings with upscaling just to make games run at 50FPS is DISGUSTING and you're a fucking coping loser if you say otherwise

notice how all the poeple saying "it works fine" never post a fucking video of the game running on their system, they just post a single out of context screenshot? That's because the game is normally running at 20fps whilst looking like a blurry fucking mess, but they say "it's still playable" in the same way that a rotten sandwich is "still edible": can you chew and swallow it? Then it's still fine despite tasting like shit and making you sick! And for those who feel the metaphor doesn;t work, 'making you sick' is meant to represent having zero fucking standards

What's the source for the "poor sales" statement?

Look at the Steam hardware survey. Plenty of 5060s and 5070s bought up and rising through the ranks. The 5060 on its own outsold the AMD RX9000 cards something like 14:1.

Because the point of that comparison is to show DLSS is just much better than standard TAA even when it has less input pixels to work with. Performance mode is 50%, which means 4k DLSS Performance has 1080p input resolution - that is considerably less than native 1440p. And yet 4K DLSS Performance looks and runs better. It's to show that DLSS is so much more efficient than TAA that it needs way less input pixels to produce better visuals, as long as your output resolution is high enough.

That's why I originally asked anon what he uses if he thinks DLSS - because every other graphical solution either looks like shit or runs like shit compared to DLSS. The only valid other answer is DLAA which is just DLSS at 100% input res.

It's one thing if you bought stocks in the middle of the craze because it was still mooning, but relatively recently enough to lose money on it? Why?

If they cut something from $500 to $400 then the company that sells it for $450 instead of $500 will get more sells.

5070 Ti is +$270 to $470 for +5% perf
5080 is +$850 to $1600 for +20% perf
5090 is +$3,500 to $5,500 for +80% perf
You can't even make an argument for a second hand 4090's because of how in demand they are for AI purposes
