I don't know about that. You played the awful FF7 remakes? That many particles, numbers, crushed shadows, sparkling effects mixed with the retarded party-AI doesn't really make a strong argument for party-based ARPGs.
It works in stuff like Kingdom Hearts (at least it did in 1 and 2) because the visuals were so graphically basic and there were now numbers, but it falls apart in the FF7 games.

Bought my Piss5 in 2021 because I never owned a Piss4 and this was just before Sony began porting all their games to PC. Bought almost all games that started on the Piss5 first (except Spider-Man 2 because I didn’t like the first one or Miles which came bundled with mine) and enjoyed them all, but I cannot think of a single game coming to it this year that I would buy. Might get GTA 6 for it next year and FF7R Part 3 in 2027 if I haven’t upgraded my PC by then. Also I don’t understand how Sony are already contemplating making a Piss6. Piss5’s past few years have been shit so why would they assume their next console would be any good?

FF7 has really, really, really good pacing and the remakes all ruin this. You can't get excited for anything because the cool shit starts, then stops, and you wander around in side content bullshit, black ghosts, filler content, or new unwanted cutscenes or characters no one wanted.

One example:

For everything, you get more-er but is it better-er? Not really.

FF7 remakes are like DESIGNED to kill hype and momentum. You can tell they just assumed 10 million dupes were gonna line up for it anyways, so them stretching them out to 3 full games isn't a big issue anyways.

For me, KH works best when it's like 80% Disney, 20% FF, but the series dipped right into shounen FF stuff pretty quick, so like, sure, the combat got way better, but it lost a lot of "soul", and I mainly blame how the series got more and more "Final Fantasy" as it went on.
But really, SE's biggest issue in general is just that they don't know what the fuck they're doing anymore. Even if they tried to make [beloved old game] styled games, they'd still have someone on the team be like "oh yeah buttons bad make all the attacks be on one button" or "hey lets simplify everything and get out the yellow paint" or something.
I'm shocked, SHOCKED that the Mario RPG remake went 99.9% unscathed by anything stupid, I assume SE wasn't involved other than maybe making the second Culex fight.

Pokemon's been trying to experiment with getting out of it, with PLA and PZA. (and technically Pokemon Go, though that's more of an ATB system.)
The main problem though is that realtime Pokemon means having even more animations for the franchise's 1000+ Pokemon, though I get the feeling they're trying to wean people off the NatDex so they can start having games with only like 300 Pokemon.

Also Pokemon GAMES don't actually sell THAT well, even kids don't really give that much of a fuck about the games. Pokemon mainly gets all their money off merch sales, it's why the games never improve at all and why GF doesn't give a singular fuck about any feedback the games ever get.
