This game is brilliant. It's one of my favorite immersive sim hybrid game ever made. Also what did we think of Mooncrash?
>>717252726 (OP)for me itโs one of the most replayed games, but i find mooncrash to be very boring desu
>>717252726 (OP)My GOTY 2017. Replayed it last month and it was as good as the first time I played it. Mooncrash was a pretty decent timewaster.
>>717252827same, mooncrash is too arcadey and lacks the atmosphere of the first game
>>717252726 (OP)Played it for the first time recently and yeah it's pretty fun. Wish I had played it on the hardest difficulty though, on hard I was drowning in resources.
>>717252726 (OP)Mooncrash is all crunch no fluff, if you like the mechanics a lot you'll have some fun with it, but don't expect anything in terms of story or whatever
>>717252726 (OP)>mooncrashtoo up its own arse. it and the main game would be better without the "muh simulation" garbage
>>717252726 (OP)the original wastes a bit too much time with the spaceship traversal. cute for a playthrough or two but a slog after
mooncrash is the best immy simmy
Love mooncrash, took me a few runs to really "get it" and start stashing stuff for other characters but once you do its insanely fun trying to do a full escape run
>>717253108The simulation angle works fine in the base game
>>717252880Couldn't decide between Prey 2017 and DOS2. Incredible games and imsims both.
>>717252827I found Mooncrasg's station to be pretty cool but it has it's flaws. I do appreciate that there is a separate game mod where I have more of a reason to use the abilities and mechanics that I typically don't use in the base game
>>717253763Divinity Original Sin 2kx0v
>>717253481'it didn't really happen lol' is a letdown, clever or not
>>717252726 (OP)Best map layout in all of imsims, other than that extremely mediocre and also pretty gay
>>717252726 (OP)I don't like Mooncrash, I hate playing immersive sims on a timer when I just want to explore. Prey IS my favorite imsim tho
>>717253945It did happen though, the entire point of the scenario was teaching a total alien Empathy. The consequences of the game are the same consequences as the endgame choice.
>>717254337I find the scenario of trying to teach an alien how to feel far more interesting than uhoh we actually caused alien invasion it's up to us to stop them
>>717252726 (OP)the best thing about prey and dishonored is the exploration and finding hidden stuff and pathways to traverse the map
>>717254117>teaching a total alien EmpathyExcept that doesn't work as a story YOU play through does it. It's not like you start the game devoid of all empathy, you start thinking you're a normal dude and act normally the entire game and then the shocking twist is that you've learned empathy through this adventure. What the fuck are you talking about, I always had empathy. I made choices using my empathy hour 1 of the game, and I did the same hour 20 of the game. Total ludonarrative shitshow
>>717254404maybe if they had it in the game properly rather than bolted on at the end. as it is, it would be an improvement if they just snipped that off, and had it so you are who you think you are, and what you're seeing and doing is actually what you're seeing and doing
>>717254432nigger
>>717254650>maybe if they had it in the game properly rather than bolted on at the end.So you missed all the clues and hints. See
>>717254432
>>717254432You have to be low IQ not to understand the ludonarrative dissonance of a story that switches protagonists at the very end. It's not an alien making the choices in the game, it's the player. So the game is not testing the emotional stability of an alien, it's testing the emotional stability of me. And I'm not made aware that I should roleplay as an alien so it's just me.
This story would work in a movie but not in a game where the alien has 0 agency.
>>717254750it's a bad experience, and my iq is enormous
>>717254761The irony is fucking palpable. Please, continue, this is rich.
Once I learned i was really an alien and the entire game never happened i purposefully killed the Asian gaben.
>>717254761>And I'm not made aware that I should roleplay as an alien so it's just meYes, that's the point. Alex wants you to act like a human to see if you, an alien naturally incapable of empathy, can learn to be empathetic when it believes it's human, a being capable of empathy. If you do, Alex's plan can continue. If you don't, he disposes of you and tries again with a different typhon. Literally every single action you make is important to the story.
>>717254994let me speak slowly for the low IQs in the back
>the story is presented as an empathy test for an alien>but the alien has 0 agency in the story>all choices were made by a human (me) roleplaying as another human (MC)>therefore the entire story causes a giant ludonarrative dissonance that you failed to even noticewas that clear enough for you?
>>717255320Read
>>717255243If you knew you were an alien being judge, you'd act differently. When you aren't aware of being observed, you act naturally. Alex needs a typhon to naturally act empathetically in order to use it to 'infect' the typhon weave with empathy to stop them from mindless hunting humans on Earth.
>>717255243>you, an alien naturally incapable of empathyThat's the thing, if the game TOLD me that I'm an alien incapable of empathy, I'd roleplay as one, I like roleplaying as weird shit. But the game doesn't tell you does it. So you just play it like the human you are, making normal human choices and then it goes WOOOAH THE WACKY ALIEN MADE HUMAN CHOICES. Well no it didn't really. The alien had 0 input in the game and I was not aware I need to roleplay as one.
>>717255519I can't say this any more clearly: You're not supposed to know.
>>717255474
>>717255603I can't say this any more clearly. What the game ends up doing is it judges your normal behavior and claims that it represents an alien race. No, it doesn't, it just represents me. How does this not get through your thick skull?
>>717255912Well, can't say I didn't try. See
>>717254432
>>717255985Your total inability to argue convinced me how smart you are. I will now spare the race of zergloids who I arbitrarily chose to associate with your decisions.
>>717256175I spelled it out to you multiple times. You are simply too stupid to understand.
>>717253960>imsimStop using this cringe shortened reddit word
>>717256310>I spelled it out to you multiple timesSo you did, but I refuted all of your points and you refuted none of mine.
are the guys who think 'le simulation' is not shit the same kind of people who think MGS is well written
>>717252726 (OP)About to play it in a week or so. Is this better than Bioshock? I hear that it's better as an immersive sim but locations, characters and enemies are worse
>>717256486Ah yes the high IQ way to argue. Hide from arguments and start copypasting. If that doesn't help, post gore. That what Einstein would've done
>>717252726 (OP)After my first run I just kept crafting Time_delays and kept the loop indefinetly in the first stage. Then it becomes piss easy once you unlock mechanic, just fix everything and craft 90 neuromods per run, litteral pisswalk.
Main game is good, save for the retarded ending
vanilla nightmare mode was too easy. Slow time, and upgraded shotgun/melee was already good enough, but once you add some psychic abilities its over.
Also, the nightmare shouldn't be so weak stats wise, nor should it be so easily evaded in a event, or by leaving the area. Make it squeeze into vents or something to kill you. Also, the nightmares should get upgraded each time you see him so the game actually has "boss" fights that are still immersive and fit into the flow of the game.
>>717256631I was so wrong about you, you are a genius
>>717256565It's better in every way that isn't purely subjective (like space vs underwater). The exception being the visual variety of the enemies. Mechanically they shit all over Bioshock but they aren't the most interesting to look at and they all look very similar.
>>717256758>Mechanically they shit all over BioshockExcept for combat being even worse than the one in Bioshock
>>717253661Kek
You literally picked two of my most hated games. At least prey is better than DOS2. There's no redeeming factors to DOS2.
>>717256746Only pretentious Youtubers and redditors use it
>>717256565Bioshock has a better artstyle and setting but Prey has far better gameplay
>>717256708This. It made Mooncrash so dull so I had to force restrict myself into only using them rarely. They should have removed the corruption timelimit shit and just mixed in hard and easy enemies randomly in different rooms to keep you on your toes
>>717256712>nightmare is too easySadly this is true. I just started a new run on nightmare for the first time and I'm having an easier time playing than when I played on Hard my first time. I think most of the game's difficulty comes from learning and understanding the mechanics.
Any ideas for a way to make my main campaign run harder?
>>717259479Immersive sim or hybrid game
>>717254432lol, this post triggered the brainlet melty
>>717252726 (OP)Got the game free recently and had a blast with it. Gonna get Mooncrash in the next big sale if it goes under $5.
>>717259720"Imsim" is just a shortened version of "immersion sim". A few years ago, anons would've called you reddit for using immersion sim at all
>>717260184It's fun enough for a playthrough but you probably won't go back to it after like any prior Arkane game.
>>717260184it needed more to be what it wanted to be which was mooncrash with asymmetric mp
it's very obvious the developers that knew their shit left after the planning phase and maybe some basic dev
>>717254554Wow the absolute missing of the point. Reading comprehension at an all time low.
>>717259367they added additional survival mechanics, so just turn those on. You could download more mods like lingering radiation sickness or wahtever.
>>717263114I did play with survival mode. I wish they did more with it
Is this the same overexcited nigga just heard about this and spamming a new thread about it everyday
Some alien powers were cool but other than that there is nothing interesting in this game.
>a grand total of like 4 enemies
>very few weapons, shotgun is OP and you will be using it for most of the time anyway
>meh story (it is all dream anyway)
>>717264147Why do you crybabies act like rape victims whenever you see a thread more than once about a game that doesn't get much discussion on here. Literally the 2nd thread I made and already you're pissing yourself. Am I exclusively to make threads on games that already have a dedicated 50+ thread count on the board
>>717260184It is good but very obviously rushed. It's the best of the Dishonored sequels at least. Play it in Fench.
>it was all a dream
what a shit ending, totally undermines everything that happened in the game
>>717265001Another double digit IQ shitter
>>717265135He is right though. The ending was a big fuck you to player.
>>717265614Literally every single action you do was important to the story and by extension the ending. If you don't understand why, it's been explained already. If you still don't understand, then you're actually stupid.
>you didn't save the strong independent woman or the nigger?
>not good enough for the humanity, reinitiate the simulation
What a shit game
>>717252827i'm the opposite, i found prey to be too mechanically boring without any real pressure and mooncrash's structure made it way more fun.
was bewildering to me when they made a timeloop game that didn't have the time pressure that mooncrash had. it makes sense considering the real gimmick of that game is multiplayer and it would've been annoying if Colt was on a timer but most people didn't experience much multiplayer anyway so
>>717265680Another name for western erotic games.
>>717265716What ending? The one that tells you it is all a dream? Yes, you actions in your dream were very important /s
the ending was whatever, but i really dont understand how can you play a 50 hour game, enjoy the content, and then because of a 12 second cutscene at the end of the game say it goes from a 7 or 8 of 10 to a 4 or 5 out of 10.
just say its an otherwise good game with a shit ending.
Did a vtuber played Prey again? What is with these tourists spamming Prey thread.
Make a general in /vg/ faggot. Or better discuss it on your vtuber's discord channel.
i started playing it last week, haven't made much progress since only played for 7h or so but so far the game feels empty with not much to do, the goo gun is really fun though.
>>717265904Sure anon, it is the best ending ever and apologies for shit talking your favorite immsim
>>717265959it's a /v/core game because it always sparks conversations due to the fact it's called Prey so idiots that fell for fake scripted trailers and marketing can cry that we never got the famed Prey 2 and the other talking point is the fact the ending is a massive curveball that divides everyone. In short, the best ragebait content thread
i really like prey, and i understand that you're supposed to be lonely and outnumbered. but i still wish that there were a few more friendly npc's other than ones who just stand in one area. especially because i liked playing on the hardest difficulty. i found myself just relying heavily on turrets which is very boring. some actual other security staff or something fighting would have been cool.
>>717265959aaarrrgh how dare you discuss a singleplayer game from years ago!!!!!!
start yet another thread about a flavor of the month sloppa instead!!!
slit your throat open, faggot.
>>717267807Nigga just shotgun them, the game is ridiculously easy. Why do you need allies or turrets
There is a power that allows you to summon a typhon but I never used it because it is gay
>>717268105rap listeners don't get opinions, thankfully. lets not act as if you are even literate enough to read this.
>>717268208lol this nigga thinks an immsim is too hard and need an NPC with auto aim to hold his hand and calling others' opinions shit. Go cry for a "story" difficulty on Twitter and perhaps devs will make one white boy
>>717268105>>717268429Holy fucking shit, how do idiots like this even manage to use the internet, let alone make it to Prey threads specifically?
Why does the fatso think your opinion won't change after you hear that everything was a test and you are in fact not a human?
Perhaps the ending was also a dream and another test and if you kill the fatso you fail.
>>717268996>Why does the fatso think your opinion won't change after you hear that everything was a test and you are in fact not a human? That's why you're given the option to kill him even if you passed. Now that (you) know what's going on, it's up you you to decide if you go along with Alex and take revenge.
>>717269176Yeah but it is retarded of Alex to assume you are a good boy that was properly brainwashed. I was expecting a 1000 IQ ending where you wake up again after killing Alex and him going "not this one". Would be a nice final fuck you to cheeky players
>>717267280I get it but also Prey is genuinely a good game. It's better than the original and there's an extremely good chance Prey 2 was going to be absolute garbage.
>>717269369>only real decision you make is also a dreamPottery, ubisoft hire this man.
>>717269369He has no other alternatives. At that point humanity is nearly wiped out.
>>717267807>i liked playing on the hardest difficulty. i found myself just relying heavily on turrets which is very boring.why the fuck would you need to use turrets even on hardest
>>717269409I enjoy the game, no doubt, and I think it is one of the best more recent imsims but for me it's a 9/10 game that gets bumped to a 88/10 game because of the ending. A stellar game, just wish it had some edges smoothed out
>>717252726 (OP)The ending in Prey was absolute KINO. All that effort to grow a humane and empathetic alien and it still kills them in the end. Not because that's what aliens do and they failed to domesticate it, but because it was able to empathize with everything that happen like a human would and realized that what humans did is absolute evil, so they need to be killed anyway. This is 360 noscope tier plot twist, in a good sense. 10/10 made me tear up from joy.
>>717259720>>717260439the only correct term is dudesex-like
>>717271520>he thinks he killed AlexNot this one either, NEXT
>>717252726 (OP)I liked getting the neuromod upgrade that allowed me to lift extremely heavy objects and just throw them at the Typhon.
It's funny to see them get one shotted by a couch being thrown at them.
The ending is great, regardless of what doorknobs who don't understand how its dichotomy works may think.
It works on multiple levels from roleplaying to storytelling thanks to the interplay between a player's apathy or empathy in a videogame (the actual simulation), and an alien mind encouraged to have a semblance of human understanding (the in-game simulation).
>>717252726 (OP)Didn't really care for it. All the optional paths felt too deliberate, combat was horribly unbalanced, the glu gun didn't even work like the game made it seem like it could (they made a snowman but you can't stick free glu balls together), the writing was terrible (I'm not talking about the ending), enemy variety and encounters are boring and the recycling is just tedious.
>>717252726 (OP)It's definitely one of my all time favourites. An absolute shame that threads about it always get shit up by contrarians and "fans" of the 2006 game that have a persecution complex.
>>717271520>Implying that killing Alex is canon and not the route where you ally with him to defeat the Typhon menace once and for allAlso
>OnimaiAre you trans?
>>717253481I sorta agree, but that escape pod really ruined my immersion since you can find it like half way into the game. Really spoiled my first playthrough.
>>717274413The threads are equally get shit up "muh all time favorite" fags call this game second coming of jesus, to the point of praising its ending.
It is a good game with several flaws. 7/10
>>717274639>I'm le enlightened centrist!!!Whatever, you surely say the same when threads about your favourite game get flooded with low-effort bait and retarded trolls.
>>717274862What else is there to discuss in this game other than its shitty ending? It is expected that the threads go there.
>>717274862How the hell is that centrism?
>>717267807they dont have enough human enemies, even when the story called for it (like the last 10 percent), so no wonder they don't have friendly npc allies.
>>717266326it picked up for me when I got the spyroscope that lets you learn abilities, and learned some shit from the psychic tree.
>>717276482If you don't constantly praise developers and treat every game feature as a divine gift to humanity you are a centrist at best.
This thread is a perfect encapsulation of the bell curve meme
>>717254117>>717254554The simulation isn't supposed to teach you anything, it's testing if you have empathy.
>fat people in space
>gays in space
I'm not immersed
