There are some new levels where you play as a young king, with the grandfather giving you objectives. There are also stickers you can take pictures of in first person mode for more unlockable items.
Otherwise you can make it look and play just like the PS2 version with 'the usual stuff' options. So from now on I consider it the definitive version since it also gives you stuff like cloud saves.

Keita Takahashi (the creator of katamari) had to essentially be bribed to consider doing a second katamari game and he made the peak of the series despite thinking it shouldn't have been made. In fact that games so good because he did what he could to not just make a glorified level pack for the first game. He then refused outright to ever make another one. True creators know when to stop, it's not a mystery why every katamari game after we love katamari is essentially just souless level packs.
