I'm watching the movie for the first time currently. It has a beautiful art direction. Nice, practical inclusion of many staples to the series. As a movie, it seems alright to pretty good. Definitely has a lot of "modern humor" though.

It's the most average movie I've seen in a while, a perfect 5/10. It looked nice, it was animated well and noticing some of the references was neat, but I couldn't recall a single line of dialogue from the film along with most of the events in general. At the same time, I also can't remember anything horrible about the film either.

The Mario movie is Mario to the core. It just oozes the concept of Mario. It is very much, super Mario.
It was like straight out the old cartoons and comics, but in the style of all the videogames. There were no compromises made. The movie does not shy away from its source material in shame, it does the opposite.

This makes it a splendid -videogame- movie. Which is something the Sonic movies fail at terribly.

It will be bland, horribly miscast, with a bunch of obnoxious pop songs in it despite Mario music having a 40-year legacy.
