Nothing about your story matters in a vacuum, everyone is lying to you when they act like X thing is so cool because it does Y thing in a story, they already liked the story and they're just mentioning something that they got out of it , these things are all dogshit without proper story telling. how it's told is the absolute most important part of a story, and everything else comes after.

Nobody notices when stories are told well because that's how they're supposed to be, when a ladder doesn't work everyone notices but when it works you can actually reach the things you want.

I am once again reminded that the job are as homogenized as they are right now because a lot of the playerbase just hates it when a job does something better than others. Pictomancer was doing really well in fights with high downtime phases, because it gets to draw during those phases and store up potency. That's a unique thing Pictomancer can do that makes it good in those fights. What happened? The entire raiding community cried about it being overpowered and nobody wanted to play anything else. So the devs nerfed that one specific advantage it had. This is how we got to the ultra homogenized jobs we have today, years of devs listening to raider feedback where every job must do exactly as well as every other job in every single circumstance, and it turns out that the only way to do that is by making every job virutally the same. People cry about job identity, but at the same time only want to play the job that is deemed the best. There's a fundamental disconnect between the raiding scene and the gameplay for the rest of the game.

How many times do i have to come into these threads and remind you youngsters that FFXIV has ended? It ended with ENDwalker. The game ran for over 10 years. Yoshida fucked off to do other games, the success of his mmo shackled him. We have some zombie team "working" on whatever fanfic the next expansions will be. The passion is gone. Half the devteam is gone. If Kate getting promoted is not the mining canary i dont know what is. The original devteam told us. They openly stated the new addon will be called ENDwalkers, but its not the end (wink). Endwalkers even had the perfect ending with all Scions parting and saying their goodbyes in a whole fucking emotional, hour-long, sequence. And what happened right after in the next patch? They retconned every fucking thing. Suddenly the scions forgot about their individual plans and suddenly everyone still travels together. Absolute bullshit. Then Dawntrail happens. The WORST expansion they ever made, hell, it is one of the worst games i ever played. And behind the scenes? Kate gets promoted, localization goes full woke putting Kururu woke words in her mouth, a fucking TRANNY voices the new, ugly as fuck furry main character. Content is trash and panders to the 1% of players. Its like they just follow the western cuck formula to kill the game, while they milk you with the cashshop by putting more shit and more expensive in it. Sounds familiar? WoW rapefugees will sing you a song about it. So yeah. There is nothing to expect anymore. Shit wont get fixed. 3 more addons, they said? They will be slightly better quality than DT. Because they know they got the addicts and the spenders. If you have spent through DT, you will continue to spend. Just...let it rest. Let Endwalker be a good memory. It had its lows but it had its very high highs as well. It was overall a enjoyable journey. Think about what Zenos said. It was a good ride. Now let us savor this memory. Sphene is basically left to waste away, Wuk is gone-ish (thankfully), nothing in Dawntrail mattered other than getting a cum chalice and now Ascians are back. I find it hard to feel enticed by the story. At least doing stuff with Sphene felt like it could be somewhat interesting if only to see her take on things in Eorzea, but now it's just back to square one.
