So, who's going to be the madman to try to use the raytracing thing of this thing?
The circuits are there, they're using space that could be used for more shaders or something, so SOMEONE has to have enough balls to try to use it.. with results.

Star Wars Ubislop looked like it had raytracing noise in its trailer.

gaytracing is a meme for retards to entice them into spending $2000 on a GPU

Raytracing isn't just global illumination, you know

That’s all it’s really good for. What else is there? People memed about it being used for like sound propagation, but that’s even less noticeable.

Shadow casting.
The way you do shadows via shaders is fucking horrible and slow.
You probably can get a better result by running raytrace at like 1/4 of the screen resolution, doing hard shadows and filtering the thing, then overlaying over the scene rather than using the depth shadow shit.

You wouldn’t get “hard” shadows from RT. That’s the whole point, you get real diffuse shadows and variable penumbra, as long as you can pay the denoising cost. What you’re describing sounds more like stencil shadows.
Anyway the games that do RT shadows have changes so subtle literally nobody notices them. Elden Ring does RT shadows for instance and it’s almost impossible to find a meaningful difference.

If you do use advanced shadows you get penumbra and all that.
But you do a mere test of "from this point, is there anything occluding the light?", you get hard shadows, and i bet this kind of test is fast enough on the switch 2 to be useable.

And already offer a much better shadow quality than the depth test shit.

Found a quite drastic example from a article that looks like something from a parallel universe:
