Not really but it eases my lonely heart and gives me endless cooming material.

is it AI slop?
>>717381741Yeah it's AI roleplaying
>>717381645You can get like shitty DeepSeek free off of openrouter, that's what my irl does to spam his shit. I'm gonna be honest though, if you don't use it obsessively there's not much of a reason to dodge paypigging so hard when prices look like this, after a lot of tuning it's pretty much what I was getting from nonnet at a fraction of the cost and I never have to worry about losing it to some bullshit.
>>717382230so in other words not a game at all.

Also you can buy with crypto so you don't have to use your card.
>>717381242 (OP)I think it actually killed off fanfiction. All those random ships can be done instantly if you can characterize each character properly.

>>717381242 (OP)Is it better than NovelAI? NovelAI has completely blackpilled me. It's terrible.
>>717385587NovelAI was the #1 cope after ai dungeon ages ago, their text shit is outdated (I think they're supposed to be training a new model idk) and they're understandably getting a lot more attention and money for their image gen stuff so why bother?
Sillytavern is just a frontend for models though, you could even use NAI through it if you wanted to.
>>717381242 (OP)Not good enough yet, but getting close. It's still too shit at remembering things, enforcing rigid rules, doing room layouts, or understanding the big picture and pushing you toward a destination.
I think it needs something like D&D style modules that you could load in to give it the general story, locations, enemies, etc. then it could expand on details from there. Models need to improve a bit more too.
Any text-to-speech models that can do Japanese sex noises yet?

I've been using it a lot and even though it does the occasional small fuckup it's been very fucking good at keeping characters "In character" even after 100+ messages to the point it's now my favored model. Another anon in that thread said it shuts down if you get too saucy but I haven't reached that point yet even with some testing to try to push the limits
Local llms are only good for ERP
Games need systems more than creative writing so you'll be better off making a game that uses a small llm for flavour and dialogues
>>717399642Even for ERP they suck now. Cloud models are just so much better.

I kind of have it under control now at least, I just lock my phone in a case with a timer after work now, since that's how I access SillyTavern. It feels kinda retarded to have to do this because I can't control myself, but I guess that's just my curse, having ADHD. At least its made me more productive at work, since I lock it up during my shifts too.
>>717404974What do you find appealing about this? I'm not talking about the tedious verbose writing, I'm talking about the concept. LLMs can't do it.
You get one of three scenarios. First, the bot just rolls over and accepts its fate, boring mindbreak. Second, the bot is completely obstinate the entire time and cries about being raped and how it'll NEVER forgive you, and it'll do this forever, no matter how absurd the situation gets. Or last, it acquiesces to a demand, and then in the next message acts like it never did it and that you're forcing it again like a schizophrenic retard.
It's just not fucking compelling at all. I can read and enjoy a billion corruption works, sure, they might not be about your autistic Roman fantasy roleplay, but why is that such a key facet for you to get off?
>>717404974it's carcer, hence incarceration, but gaol's fine because you're talking in english anyway and it's appropriately old timey for flavor
>>717405273for me personally, it's the interactivity. if the bot is doing shit you don't like, and the model you're using isn't retarded, there are ways to fix that too
>>717388358Because you're essentially jacking off to a lobotomy patient with local. Plus I'm not into loli or bestiality.

The key is to generate a true world state separately to prevent the world being generated as you interact. Started creating one today, more dungeon exploration and puzzle focused, no character bullshit. ERP is for women and fags
Wake me up when I can enjoy a 3way between me, another anon, and a bot. That way I can properly cuck anons by fucking their waifu without either of us writing for the character.

>>717408283>>717408412There are entire anime like One Room where it's first person and the MC just nods and shit, in fact plenty of games like this too for that matter, you can actually do a lot worse than one word replies. This isn't some arcane thing, it doesn't much defense for excusing its inability to continue the story despite the user giving a one word reply except for very low standards for its capabilities.
>>717408761>in fact plenty of games like this too for that matterAnd in those games it directs the player's actions.
>its inability to continue the story It can continue the story just fine, but if you're going to keep posting "Based" over and over, don't screech like a retard when the bot fills in the gaps and takes actions to move the story forward
>>717408510I tried it when I wanted to add a character to a ongoing story but i didn't work. I ended up just taking the character card info, putting it in a lorebook in the main chat. and letting it get activated when their name was mentioned.
I also wanted the original chat to continue writing in third person, but for the new character to be in first person, per her card, since her thoughts a large part of her character. Told it to write in a normal form for the original chat, [character name] form for her section, and mixed form when I want to see both. And if i don't specify then to just choose whatever makes the most sense.
Worked quite well.
>>717402946As someone that was always half interested in writing but paralyzed by direction and dialog, no its just very enjoyable and fulfilling
I only tried LLMs because I physically ran out of things to read in the tags I liked on sad panda, but being in the driver's seat and being able to direct and respond as my character is also just better than digging through mediocre writing from someone else. I get the specific smut I want, the specific romance I want, and get to play around with general RP. I can sit and decide what odd and alarming yet ultimately harmless trap to leave the adventurers invading my castle and watch them deal with it
Modern LLM don't need too much help keeping things consistent either, just don't expect them to have a plot direction in mind. That much you do have to put in effort on your end, which I'm totally fine with. That little issue is also why it isn't a real replacement for actually good writing though
>>717409289>just don't expect them to have a plot direction in mind. There's probably a ST plugin that could help with that.

>>717418427I don't think it has to go quite that far. Also that system should be able to solve other problems than just things that happen along the way. >>717428967NTA but i tried doing something similar with self-updating lorebooks,
>have lorebook entry with cooldown of 15 messages >20% chance to activate.>Current Day: X>Current Hour: Y> js extension does its own internal counting>replaces X and Y with actual values >saves value per each chat into json, to not lose it.I used this system so that zombie apocalypse would have new things happening after x amount of days, like stronger zombies.
With enough of tinkering, stats are probably similarly achievable. Or someone already did it lol
I'm gonna do it.
I'll make a RP engine for LLMs.
Something that uses structured outputs and tool calls to have the LLM tell the rest of the system what to change and where (HP, inventory, position on a map, whatever).
The idea is that the LLM would be able to dynamically fetch what it needs for that context.
So it entered combat, it would read the combat rules real quick and call the things needed to begin combat. Somebody took damage, it would call something to update the state of the entity that took damage, etc.
The idea is to constrain the type of work the LLM does while using stuff like Google's Structured Output or llama.cpp BNF grammar to ensure the LLM always returns its responses in a given Json format that the rest of the system can read.
It'll basically be a bunch of ifs doing a constant back and forth with the AI.
What do you guys think?
>>717429481Gambatte anon, I will await your expertise's fruits
>>717388358>Why do people pay for this stuff when they can just run it off their beefy PCs?Because any LLM that's small enough to run on a single GPU (yes even a 5090) is fucking awful for roleplay compared to even the dumbest corpo models.

>>717429884Yeah it's trained off common smut writing and surprisingly smut writers are fucking trash.
>>717430414Silly Tavern has a lot of limitations.
I've made a couple of extensions for it, but trying to work within the somewhat rigid structures of it in some layers fucking sucks, so it's easier to make something from scratch if it's purpose built.
It ain't going to be anything too fancy either, but I think that by prompting the model several times with less information each time while forcing a specific machine readable structure for the output, state management becomes infinitely easier to deal with, and can work even for small, dumb models.
The nice thing is that it can be somewhat rules agnostic too depending on the common basic building blocks.
I might make it fully featured and system agnostic by allowing the user to set the rules for state management.
For example, a system that uses mana for spells would use different rules for a system that uses slots.
That kind of thing.
>>717429481I was trying to do something similar a year ago and imo it's a waste of time. LLMs just aren't suited for this, you can add rules with lorebooks but the LLM will still ignore them if the player input requires it. I feel like the way to go is to just use a RPGMaker-esque system for combat and inventory stuff and use an LLM for dialogue and descriptions.
>>717430790I respect your ideas and professional insight, but with "my" (official ttrpg) systems, I've settled on using brute force of Gemini, no matter how inefficient it is in the long run.
What I've learned is that making things appear right is more important than them being autistically calculated in the background.
>>717430790sillytavern has support for server plugins and api listening on port,, so its technically feasible to have extension send each prompt response and llm reply to external python/C code that will do all necessary adjustments then pass it back to sillytavern

It's very unlikely to get better. Corpos are reaching extreme levels of diminished returns and investors will probably wake up within the next year. Open source had a big moment a year ago but it's kind of stalled out since.
The chatbot scene has become increasingly atomized with most people serving themselves rather than the community, and that's just due to the nature of the hobby combined with legality and questionable ethics.
Combine all that with the likelihood that the internet will be completely censored in the next 5 years and it's unlikely to get any better.
I just hope all of this online monitoring shit cools down cause boomers are slowly dying off (Thank fuck) and Millennials and Gen Z will be majority of adults before long. Which means the average support of Globalist Jewish bullshit will tank.

>>717450569Your preset is probably bad and you are too stupid to know.
What I find sillytavern really useful for, aside from niche porn, is meta chats. You can interact directly in a way that is literally impossible for any kind of scripted game. It easily blows any and every meta attempt in videogames, in any writing really, completely out of the water entirely. The models can make the characters surprisingly quite self aware, when I first tired it I thought it wouldn't be able to handle it at all but it is quite prescient.
A particularly fun game was generating a bunch of different swipes to one question and having the characters look at their alternate answers. And then you can even generate a bunch of swipes of THAT response and have them judge their judgements.
As for normal stories... sillytavern kinda just made me appreciate visual novels more. Guess it ain't as easy as it looks, sillytavern has a long way to go to match up.
>>717450784>>717450869nta but Deepseek tends to be too heavy on following cliched behaviors. I tell it to behave in the opposite manner of what it keeps doing (I don't mention it in the prompt) and it does it anyway. It's usually decent at following larger plot-related things but when it comes to little details about a character's personality, speaking style, or avoiding the model's dumb -isms, it just does what it feels like doing.
