This is one of the worst games I've ever played in my life. How the fuck is it so popular? It has horrible visuals, horrible sound, bad controls which are 100% mouse driven and have a 0.6s delay to everything, the most forgettable and generic lore, the gameplay is literally the most mindnumbing repetitive shit I've ever seen... PvP and PvM is all based around abusing the shitty java engine from 2002... you literally can't make any progress whatsoever unless you make it your fulltime job and play minimum 8 hours a day... wtf man. Even retail WoW is better

but any progress you do make matters and will always matter, those levels you got in that skill skill will never be irrelevant no matter how many updates pass
and you can do whatever you want for as long as you want without being arbitrarily timegated out of it

This lie needs to die. It isn't as bad as WoW, but there absolutely 100% is power creep in OSRS and a lot of your gear is going to get outmatched even in the same bracket, by sidegrades that are easier to get than what you already have

Easy. You can have a complete gaming experience and still only feel inclined to get the $5 membership at lvl 60 when become eligible for dragon/barrows armor. Maplestory was for babbies, WOW was expensive and demanded a powerful pc for the time, Guild Wars was too linear looked like shit. Need I go on?

I would grind mining in the ice caves while listening to Slipknot and eating. I got my first gf in RS and we would do squats behind the Grand Exchange. Some quests had cute stories and the settings were diverse, each with their own soundtrack. They got rid of player killing in the wilderness for a couple years, but then brought it back with a massive graphical overhaul.

The powercreep is minimal compared to WoW, where you just skip ahead to the newest content and the gear discrepancy is so fucking enormous that it makes all previous content completely and utterly pointless, they might as well delete it from the game.
People still use Barrows armor today. It's still useful in the midgame. People still use Elite Void today, it's even still an optimal setup for some things.
