It would be a shame since the next TES would finally allow animations that don't feel like dry humping bags of sand. I really hop we get better staggering of enemies and that your player feels heavy. Lots of inertia. Siding with you that there is a bias which weapon is overused or under developed.

I hate the fact that this is the kind of bullshit they will pull. If games like Mountain Blade and Dark Souls can have a wide array of weapons with relatively consistent move sets there should be nothing stopping Todd from putting in the same effort. Especially with 15+ years between games. Even just having the basics covered will be enough to let modders fill in the gaps if they're too lazy to run a few basic color swaps. Shartfield quietly took out bolt actions and power fists too as weapon categories and no one blinked an eye. No point looking at the sad excuse for general melee options there either. A handful of blunt machetes and some pig stickers in spess.
