>>717409042 (OP)defence has always been a meme in souls, even the devs know this, since one of the first rings you get in Dark souls 1, for beating a black knight (which to be fair for a first timer is a pretty big challenge in that corridor, unless you figured out some cheese, basically 0 newfags parry so y'know) is a ring that boosts defence when you are low on HP, one of the most blatant, clear examples of trolling the player
and yet, when you go watch some old mid 2000s playthroughs, basically everyone new had that ring equipped.
Demons souls had something similar too, but even further than that, Eternal ring, kingsfield and shadow tower all did this shit too
wasnt until later on that defence actually made an impact but that is really only working for chip damage and weak mob attacks, bosses still 1-2 shot you unless you stack defence massively
Id say elden ring was a little more noticeable, I fucked around testing it a bit and sure enough, having like 50 more defence does basically double your HP and Id say its worth not neglecting entirely when HP upgrades start to drop off. I played a cloth wearing rogue, dagger and buckler build and the stone talisman made a clear fucking difference in damage taken.
Wearing this talisman results in waaaay more than 15% more damage, at least on light armor builds. then again I only ever went to level 30HP because im not a cheating pussy.
