>is a nearly perfect 10/10 ending
>gets ruined last second because kojima has a fetish for big boss
From the beginning MGS4 had set up that Snake was going to die. He had no place in the world and by taking his life he spares himself from both a painful death and seeing the deaths of his loved ones. Snake spent nearly all his life doing good and fighting for others and so his final act would be the ultimate form of sacrifice. A somewhat defeatist end to a legendary hero but thatโ€™s exactly what makes the act so powerful. Snakeโ€™s suicide is a moment of genuine vulnerability, a reminder to the audience that he has always been just another man. In a sense, Snake reaches an enlightenment that neither Raiden or Big Boss do at the end of their respective games. And it gets ruined because Kojima wanted a word vomit exposition dump

Eh, you have to cut Japs some slack when it comes to "glorification/glamorization" of suicide, it's a touchy subject for them for a lot of reasons. There's a lot of historical baggage as well as a very real issue with depression in the modern day.

Snake is still dying in 6 months. That's just giving him a bit of time to live like a human being and leave a legacy on Otacon. It's perfectly fine

No, it was ruined because KONAMI didn't want to put down their golden eggs laying goose.

You DO know about HIS original ending, don't you? Snake and Otacon would both get trialed by the UN for terrorism, both ending up with a death sentence.
Majority of the MGS4 silly BS was either because of the yakuza-tier corpo CEOs demands, or because Kojima had to try and fix the MGS:PO's total fanfic tier nonsense (ie. FOX = Lalilule), which he didn't direct nor write. But because most folks never played PO, they only came to learn of that stuff through MGS4, thus once again blaming Kojima.

tl;dr: Jewnami's been undermining and outright sabotaging MGS' projects long before the big MGS5 boogaloo.

The game is heavily criticised nowadays compared to almost 20 years. An almost complete reversal to MGS2

...said literally nobody, ever.

>This whole UN trial comes out of nowhere
It does not, and again you're viewing this out of the white-washed release version we now got, that already downsized and cut many gameplay features, playable areas, the entire semi-openworld design, and yes - important plot elements.

>people only defend it because it's sad therefore good
The game was already considered sad yet beautiful as-is.
The very beginning of the game, right from the main menu itself, instantly signals to the world that this will be Snake's final battle, and thus also the grand finale of the Metal Gear saga as a whole. And Hideo's statements in countless interviews further solidified this fact.

Unless you're an underaged cumrag who only consooms capeshit, anyone can instantly tell when the writer / director / script gets changed in any sort of literature, digital media included.
MGS4 is a clear case of just that, with tons and tons of pre-release footage AND the entire Metal Gear encyclopedia consisting of bonus discs and the downloadable content showcasing what could've been.

That 20 minute BB reveal did rise eyebrows already back in 2008, and these days we know why: we were denied of ultimate kino + superior game design, solely because Jewnami's cuck-executives were afraid of trying any sort of fresh new IPs. And just 5 years later, they would also be second guessing if their best-seller game franchise would be "enough" in the mid-2010, resulting butchering of MGS5.

Sometimes, extra additions DO ruin the experience and make it worse.
The version of MGS4 we got is serviceable and fondly remembered, but it is essentially the "Yakuza 0 Remastered" version of the game.

No wonder the game feels rushed after act 2. MGS4 has very uneven pacing and feels less complete compared to previous games. I still like the game overall but there were so many missed opportunities

It has been the curse of the old Kojima Production since the late PS2 days. The only recent MGS title that wasn't completely rushed out was the Peace Walker, which being a PSP title was ignored by many. Me myself included, but fortunately the PS3's HD collection helped me fix that mistake.

You haven't given any defense for the UN ending, retard. Nothing links it to these characters arc. All you said was "there was cut content", which there was but none in a sense that would connect to this ending.

This is another case of Kojima saying some bullshit that sounds deep on paper but doesn't hold up to the slightest bits of scrutiny, and his slurper fanbase defending it. This entire UN ending is completely meaningless.

I'm fine with BB showing up, I just didn't need the fucking "Zero into one" bullshit.
It's like the mission briefing before act 4 where Raiden is going on about it raining on the day he was born and Snake is all like "NO! YOU WERE THE LIGHTNING IN THAT RAIN!" and I'm just fucking begging for this nonsense to end and to get to Shadow Moses.

Metal Gear Solid 2 does.
Snek and Otacon have been wanted since 2005.

ESL illiteracy.

Incorrect, toddler
Hell, the fucking ending theme "Here's To You" still remains for some weird reason.

You literally have no argument because there are none to be made. The only defense there is for the UN ending is "it's bittersweet and bittersweet is good" (the game is already bittersweet) and "muh Nikola and Bart" (great song)

There's no way to satisfyingly rewrite MGS4 to make a good "wow, the UN is catching up to us for what Ocelot did back in the MGS2 intro!" subplot. It's retarded, like you are. Old Snake should die from old age or suicide because of Foxdie, these are both satisfying framing for MGS4. They're inevitable and much more appropriate than suddenly getting caught for something that happened 9 years prior. Snake can't escape his body deteriorating, no matter what he does, that's fate, not a gay UN execution

Incorrect once again.
Read the thread. Ask around. Anyone could tell already a decade ago that MGS4 was rushed.
The fact that entire segments of promoted content is gone, that data mining has unearthed more stuff people didn't even know to have existed once upon a time, on top of the devs having come out multiple times on many different sources - confirming that the game had to be streamlined and the story changed drastically - is plenty of evidence.

>the UN never gets mentioned once in the game, snake being wanted never gets mentioned.
Read, nigger, read:

The CURRENT VERSION of the game does not mention them, because IT WOULD NOT MAKE SENSE no more.

That is the whole point.
HOWEVER, the Metal Gear Solid 2 itself already clearly states that Philanthropy was already seen as a nuisance before 2007, but after they got framed for the NY Tanker incident, they became a wanted "terrorist group" world wide. Solidus masquerading as the "Solid Snake" didn't help their case either, but ultimately it was all orchestrated by the Lalilule AI, which potentially funded the creation of Philanthropy as well.

The original plot of MGS4 would've seen Colonel and the old cast working within the grey zone, exceeding their jurisdiction and authority, in order to stop the Liquid Ocelot's PMC take over of the Lalilule (and hopefully sabotage the Lalilule itself), by "hiring" the two wanted MCs to work for them.

UN would allow this only because the threat of Liquid Ocelot was too high (Rat Patrol being the first real UN victims, followed by the US military being rendered unable to retaliate soon after).
That being said, the old "crimes" of Old Snake and Ocelot would not be erased by these "heroic acts".
