This was the best adventure game of the 21st century, let alone GOTY. On par with the LucasArts greats. Bloody phenomenal narrative with point & click puzzles that are cream of the crop. The voice acting felt like an HBO show. Inspired by the best sci-fi of Michael Crichton and John Carpenter, with a hefty dose of Ozploitation cinema. If you're Aussie, you'll really like this game, but I'd call it a must-play for anyone who's into adventure games.

Thank you, there has been a lack of good point and click. Last one I played was Deponia series.

The last I had played was NORCO, and I thought that was good, but this truly blew me out of the water. The twists & turns within the narrative were dizzying, and it packed in some really resonant themes that I identified with in the main character. There's also little moon-logic, & mechanics to prevent you from soft-locking, so the actual puzzles of it are nicely streamlined without it being too simple. Like fuck, if the first chapter doesn't hook you, I don't know what could. It was like a great interactive mini-series.

Oh, Norco and The Crimson Diamond. If I had to rank these contemporary P&C's, it would be:
>The Drifter (massive power gap)
>The Crimson Diamond
>Norco
Would be keen to play more if any anons have suggestions.

You play the Edna and Harvey games? Or machinarium? Dropsy? Fran Bow? The broken sword series?
There's also some upcoming one I personally am interested in called Lost in the Roots

Which should be obvious by context. You're in disbelief that people enjoy adventure games?

The funny thing is is that the game reminded me of Australian slang I don't often hear anymore. It coloured my enjoyment of it so much more. I think it's actually set in a fictional 80s Melbourne, judging by the maps & architecture shown.

Why are steamcharts fags like this? Why do you even let a portion of the playcount for an independent adventure game studio occupy your mind? Why can this board be so allergic to talking about vidya? I never get accused of shilling random books or movies on /lit/ or /tv/ or /his/

I just hate when devs deliberately go for this pixel indieshit look, man. It's not as drastic as Darkside Detective or The Last Door, but still.

I thought it got too video game-y with the ending sequence but it was great.
