Why is there no modern expansive LotR games? Why is there no true LotR RPG? I don't wanna play as fucking Gollum, or dance around with bamham combat, or grind though a 2007 WoW rip off, I don't wanna play fucking hobbit harvest moon. Only good LotR experiences on PC at least are found in mods for other games.

Because LotR is an established setting. Trying to make a game out of it would require so many changes that you'd be playing elaborate monetized fanfiction.

Because the setting that's best for a video game (Beleriand) is only known to mega nerds. There would be no Gandalf, Sauron, Moria, Aragorn, Rohan, Gollum, Ring, Bilbo... it would be great, but unmarketable (or at least that's how executives would see it).

LotR is better as books.

I hope no developer ever touches it again. A good video game hasn't been released in 20 years. It's bad enough modern television is making yet another adaptation. They've ruined absolutely every other fantasy series they've touched and I'd rather LotR get left alone.
