If your game has loading screens after the main menu, it's not an open world game.

they're actually really technical and require a ton of dev trickery. At least THPS clones would. So your average indie retard can't be expected to figure it out. Your average programmer couldn't make a custom character controller from scratch to save their lives and thats just the first step. Then you have to figure out things like how you don't actually ever leave the "ground" thps. It's all smoke and mirrors.

It has nothing to do with "le movie game". There's bing bing adhd games, just like there are bing bing adhd movies, and the inverse for both.

This can be used as an for open world games too, ya'know.
You can't sit still for a 20 second long loading screen, so you NEED to be able to hold the 'W' key and walk through empty overworlds

I don't care about le loading screens debate. My point is just that people who don't have adhd dont need there to be bing bing action 24/7 and are able to just soak in atmosphere and enjoy quiet parts of a videogame. The action is more impactful when it isn't constant. The quietness and action compliment eachother, when you intersperse them together.

Most "padding" is done through repetitive gameplay, not quiet exploration.

Why would it matter how exact it's programmed if the end result is the same?

Traversing the open world should be a unique experience. It shouldn't be just endless going back and forth through the same area you've already been through. When we play video games we want our open worlds to feel like enchanted forests and uncharted islands and vibrant cities and so on. We don't want a boring daily commute.
