They're specifically personified smartphone apps and have different levels and evolution method from regular digimon, that is they have no Baby I & II stages and evolve by fusing with each other. design-wise they were all goofy bobblehead creatures because it was digimon's attempt at cashing in on the yo-kai watch trend from the time

Was there any way this series WOULDN'T have bombed? Between the obvious trend-chasing, Digimon itself still struggling to find its place in the modern world and having no resources for spin-offs, and the fact ALL their mobile projects up 'til now fucking bombed, I find it hard to believe they thought this would go anywhere.
