like it's got the same pack countdown like pokemon tcg pocket, but you only get 1 every 24 hours and there's clocks to speed that up too but they don't allow any excess time to roll over so you should only use them as close to an hour divisible by 2 (since each one shortens the countdown by two hours) as possible whereas with tcg pocket you don't need to worry about that since the extra time is kept

it's also got jewels for actually buying specific packs too, i have no idea what card pool the free packs are pulling from, but i imagine it's not as friendly as tcg pocket in that you can get the latest cards from your timer packs

You play around the memory system in two ways:

in general you want to build your board further over attacking but the game is very open ended and every decision depends on what the board looks like and who you are against etc

do keep in mind that effects don't trigger in the breeding zone so while it's safe to build your stack there, most of the time you just want to use your resources on the board instead

Maybe if you search better, you'll for a better deal. I was pretty lazy with this. Also, when getting a Digimon X2, you will need to remember this horse shit. We didn't get the X3 in the States because of this.
But if you can't find a reasonably priced Digimon X, you will either have to settle for a 20th. They aren't bad, but the X series is just better. And if you like your first Vpet then I can recommend getting a Pendulum Color or one of the crossover ones. Those are "adult" collector items so they're expensive.

Nostalgia wanking was huge like 5 years ago but these days they mostly cater towards core fans which means a lot of support to flesh out uncommon digimon by giving them new family and completing groupings or themes that people have been asking for for ages. Lots of replies already so I won't give my autistic long answer but the short of it is that seasons 1-3 aired on Fox Kids here and then season 4 changed channels so most of us dropped off about that time, and I think they stopped airing the seasons here shortly after. So it's just being fans of what we know versus genwunning. The most important see people complain about in regards to modern Digimon is how humanesque many designs are these days instead of monstrous.
With the internet now it's easier to watch the other stuff but the early seasons had some really formative stuff with some pretty mature content compared to the average cartoon, so if more modern seasons are good, its the early stuff that resonates with us.

you attack your opponent 6 times to win. they have 5 cards as their shield if the card is a digimon then your card needs to have a higher attack value or else your digimon that attack will get destroyed. if it’s a tamer or option card then that card affect will play or go on their field. there’s a breeding turn at the start of your turn. The main partner/protagonist Digimon from the original season of the anime are shilled constantly. But that is more akin to Pikachu, Charizard, Pysduck, etc being shilled, not Gen 1 as a whole.

Digimon doesn't really have "Gens" the way Pokemon do, in that the games don't follow a singular main format, and new digimon are released whenever in different products rather then in big batches with each new game or season. But the closest thing Digimon has to a "gen 1", which would be the Digimon made with the first line of V-pets or up through the end of that first adventure anime season, don't get shilled particularly hard

Some specific Digimon from them do that are popular aside from the protag mons, like Leomon, etc, but only moderately commonly rather then constantly like the protag mons. Even the big bad villains like Diablomon/Diaboromon, Vamdemon/Myotismon, etc from that series and it's movies don't actually get much merch.

The bigger thing Digimon shills after the Adventure partner/protags is the Royal Knights, who got made/introduced over time, technically one of them was is that anime, but for the most part they were a group conceived of in the 2000s, the latest memeber didn't get made untill 2014, actually. The popularity of the royal knights (well, of Omegamon, the earliest one that got made before they existed as a group, his popularity then led to that groupo) and their constant shilling resulted in Digimon shifting to making tons more humanoid robo dragon knights and other humanoid digimon (especially waifumons) as final stages, which persisted as a trend across the late 2000s and 2010s.

Then in 2020 they brought back the more punk, street art, horror, grung, "gross out" aeshetic Digimon had back in the 90s, and for the past 5 years the franchise has had more of a healthy balance of more classic styled Digimon, the robo knights, waifumons, etc.
