microsoft is planning to roll out mandatory secure boot and TPM2 to enforce hardware-level DRM on the PC platform
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Next-Generation_Secure_Computing_Base
this plan has been in motion since the late 90s

from the looks of it cheaters are already rampant in BF6 so please tell me what exactly does forcing secure boot on everybody actually fucking accomplish?

It allows the installation of 3rd party corporate programs that get run between the kernel and the windows frontend, to make it simple. Which allows them to do whatever they want ie. intercept keystrokes, look at what you're doing, send videos of your webcam to their servers, etc, without you being able to see it happen or even the process running. It also allows them to rewire how Windows works, so if you were to to detect you typing "nigger" into anything, even notepad, they could dynamically make you write "nibba" instead, so no matter how many times you'd press G, only B would come out.

What amazes me that some dumb people don't in fact immediately refund a game when it tells you to go to your fucking BIOS settings and change them. No matter how computer illiterate you are, you should know that no software that's good for you requires you to fuck with your BIOS.

since MS is onboard, eventually devs and individual hardware will also get onboard
same what happened with DX12 and W10

Turning it on stopped my PC from booting.
After thinking about it it was actually pretty secure of I can't use it anymore.

what you're describing is kernel module, ie kernel level anticheat, which in theory could do what you're saying. secure boot by itself doesn't install kernel modules. all it does is check that your software during boot hasn't been tampered with. secure boot is handled by the motherboard. you can also literally just turn it off at any time.

The vidya hasn't been yours as you are required to log into account and ask your masters if they please let you play it like a good goy.

>turns out I was retarded
>no TPM or fTPM enabled
>try again and enable fTPM before enabling secure boot
>bricks even harder, have to use the double BIOS in my mobo
The real issue is that it still won't stop cheaters, DMA cards are like what 20 bucks on aliexpress?

It's just the incompetent faggots at EA/DICE and now Activision also pushing the responsibility on to the end user for just a slight chance at making their jeetcoded anti-cheat 0.04% more effective so they can sell more skins of Squidward or whatever the fuck
