Might as well copy/paste what i posted last thread.
Ludosity used to be cool, they could have stayed a hidden gem, but instead they got ubris and pride and are now another punching bag to those outside their echo chambers.
Anyone know of any other indie company that is kino like what Ludosity used to be?

Huh, well despite loving the first two i'm not buying as i am done with Ludosity.
I am done with them because during NASB 1 & 2 they have proven themselves to be not good people due to how they act on social media, especially Discord.
They insist their design philosophy is the best even when it backfired on them, they steal the credit from the other dev team, Fair Play Labs, working on the game, they turn their Discord into an echo chamber, allows anyone who questions them to get harassed and attacked, even going as far as to allow cancel culture, they disrespected the Nicktoons fans, insisting that how they handle the Nicktoons is the right way and they lie about it, they lie about being fans of the Nicktoons, they lied right to me, to their play testers and to the audience, they're a bunch of liars who'll say anything to get their game noticed.

A few months after Slap City was released Ludosity was approached by Nickelodeon to help work on their own platform fighter, the majority of the Ludosity devs didn't want to seeing it as a bad idea but there intern who wanted to work on his own game took the offer and dragged the Slap City devs with him causing two characters and a Switch port to be delayed and all planed future content to be canceled.
When the devs worked on Nickelodeon All Stars they brought along the same design philosophy they had with Slap City but the thing is is that that didn't work with IPs and characters much bigger than their own and with many more people caring a lot more about the Nicktoons, it lead to the game being a disaster with a terrible roster and too much focus on competitive play scaring away Nicktoons fans and only welcoming Melee fanboys, the aformentioned intern is a big competitive fanboy with an admitted competitive bias so the game was never really made for casuals in mind despite being a Nickelodeon game, not to mention the Ludosity employees fighting for characters that only fit their own biases, and being proud of it.
The issues in NASB1 only became worse in NASB2 with an even worse roster, mediocre story mode and although they tried to make it more casual it was already too little too late and despite NASB2 having a higher budget it sold worse than NASB1 causing Nickelodeon and/or GameMill to no longer consider it a priority causing the DLC to be delayed and a planed wave 2 to be scrapped. (Although what the devs did consider for wave 2 was just, not good mentality to say the least)
All in all this caused people to loose faith in Ludosity and now they are seen as either a laughing stock or forgotten outside of their toxic echo chamber of their own creation, not to mention how some of the devs proved themselves to be in their own ways toxic, incompetent and liars.

They're not closed as they're still making some games.
I guess all the hard work and stress those two developers had to do to push out the last two character worn them out so much the passion for the game is gone.
In fact i remember one of them saying that much, apparently with the other Slap City devs being dragged to work on NASB the two who remained with Slap City and made it what it is today just lost all motivation and passion after having to work so hard.

Ludosity never wanted to work on Slap City full time. They made the game they wanted and moved on to other projects. It's a solid game, there's a lot of content, the character balance is excellent. It doesn't need any more updates, it needs people to actually play the game.

Rivals of Aether 2 is a great game and I'm tired of pretending it isn't. People hopelessly holding onto to RoA1 a decade after its release are as obnoxious as people who refuse to play RoA2 because it isn't Melee - and it isn't. If anything, it's closer to P+ than Melee, but it's still a completely distinct platform fighter and easily the best one I've played since those two.

because growing up all they've ever wanted to do was make their own melee/smash, Dan Furnace explicitly said several times he just wanted to make his own smash but things like grabs and knockdown states were too complex for the tiny little hobby game rivals 1 was during it's inception, so he settled for parries and ended up butchering the unique aspects of rivals 1 when 2 was made, because now he had the capacity

>whifflag

all in all it essentially just becomes platdrop simulator, but it was it's own platdrop simulator

But every one of these mechanics except whifflag is in RoA2
>parry is still in

>tiltboosting is still in
>jab cancels are still in
I don't know what you mean by stage gimmicks, whether you're talking about Aetherian stages (which are on the roadmap) or characters having stage control gimmicks (which everyone does). The lack of whifflag is annoying against characters like Clairen, Forsburn, and Loxodont who can simply spam disjointed normals.

hardly compared to 1, you only go for ledge

yeah these were just introduced in rivals 1 I guess that's my bad for not really thinking

The devs never stated the playerbase to be the problem, they specifically said it's how they felt and they made it clear that two people working alone made it more difficult.
This is a small indie studio we're talking about here, not a big corperation looking for the next big live service game, they're used to small numbers yet they keep making games and even sequels anyway.
And like ya just said, Slap City was dead even before NASB yet those two devs still went out of their way to add those two characters because it was never about the player count to them, it was about how well they can work without killing themselves.
One of the devs, i think his name was Regn, mentioned on Discord how much working on the game with just two people, including him, has been a big burnout for him and he had to recover. (Bottom text of pic related, missing context but ya get the idea)

>hardly compared to 1, you only go for ledge
It's not about getting to ledge, it's about how you get to ledge. Of course people are going to try to get to the thing that gives them 1s of invincibility to ledgedash or aerial onto stage. As far as getting to ledge, recoveries are still dynamic and interactive with the exception of Clairen and Wrastor. Clairen because her recovery is too good and difficult to contest, meaning that ledgehogging is always the best option against her, and Wrastor because his recovery just sucks.
>parry is neutered
Because it isn't the only defensive option now, and it's still a good option. In neutral it's a high risk, high reward prediction. Where it's really good is in disadvantage, when your opponent gets greedy and tries to go for a form of shield pressure, combo extension, or kill confirm that isn't true.

Yes, because shields are a thing now. In 1 you didn't have that luxury so it plays very differently

Source from the same insider who leaked the entire roster.
Pic related's source is the same guy who leaked the game and gave info to multiple people so this is credible.
For starters, something to keep in mind, that we discussed the sales of the game and the possibility of a wave 2 for NASB2 DLC. The developers want wave 2 but the game might not have sold enough to warrant it so the chances of that happening is a strong 50/50 so keep that in mind.
Now to the info. The devs want a wave 2 but they have no plans on exactly who they want to add, instead what we do know are characters they don't want to add.
For starters, the devs are completely done with anything Avatar, they don't want any more Avatar characters so Iroh is the last one. Meaning no Katara, no Sokka, no other Korra characters like Bolin or Kuvira, and no chance of Toph returning.
Secondly, the developers also do not want Miko from Glitch Techs. The reason for this is unknown but there's a chance that they'd be fine with Glitch techs, just not Miko specifically, despite how wanted of a character she is. (According to the polls she's the second most wanted behind Timmy) If there is going to be a Glitch Techs character then it's either going to be Five or one of the side characters like Mitch, Zahra or Ridley.
