So a youtuber got some review unit of 8BitDo Pro 3 for review. My initial impression is "meh", GameSir Tarantula Pro does face button changing better than this, I don't need to remove buttons, and I think I can even do it in-game. Basically there are some third-party games on Switch (Scarlet Tower is notorious, but probably all of the GTA games, probably RDR too since my Sony friend struggled to play it with Switch Pro controller) that benefit from a ABXY button scheme. I've had T3 Lite couple of weeks, and the BIG difference it has to any other 3rd party controller is that it's fixed ABXY, it's good controller, but it's simply unusable for any games that've been "coded" for Switch's control scheme (I'd like to think most third parties do this, not all, but certainly all of nintendo's own games are meant to be played with BAYX scheme).
Where Tarantula Pro is better than T3 Lite, is you can actually play switch games (too) with it. If I start Splatoon 3 with ABXY control scheme, I have to press RIGHT to jump, which is retarded and not how Nintendo meant this game to be played. I do the Tarantula's button rotation thing, bang it's bang in Switch's default BAYX scheme, and now I press DOWN (where the B is located now) to jump. To perform layout rotation, you hold the M (Macro) button below the controller, and hold the down face button for 2 seconds, and it changes to different layout. So depending on which game a game is coded for, Tarantula Pro gives you best of both worlds, and you can play the game most optimally (assuming it wasn't "coded" for switch's control scheme, like some games aren't). This is million times better than having to remove buttons like 8Bitdo Pro 3 does, because you can just change the scheme is 1-2 seconds, and is actually much cooler thanks to gears being involved.
The only concern of Tarantula Pro is stick shaft wear, at least according to this anon https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/717287473/#717290032 they might wear out
rather just have blank button faces
It goes without saying, that this whole button layout thing is only a Switch problem, you will not face this problem on Xbox, PC or Playstation gaming, because they've always had sensible control schemes (playstation X = xbox A), they didn't go the BAYX route that nintendo took, and basically if some third party dev ported a game on switch with ABXY scheme (basically "forgetting" to code it for switch scheme).. well it's slightly less optimal to play it on the default BAYX controller scheme that switch controllers have
>>717642134It's not so much where the letters are, but more to do where the "action/confirm", "cancel (usually B) and "jump" buttons are.
>>717642047 (OP)Sar is good comtroller. Plz redeem the needful.
>>717642047 (OP)>5 dollar VS-clone prompted anon to buy chink controller with name of gamesaaar>puts emphasis on gears being involvedThis is some peak autism at display here. Let me gueas you also collect model trains?
>>717642134They also have blank Supet Famicom buttons inside the dock
This is one of the stupidest threads I have ever seen in my life
>>717642848I think it's only because the video itself isn't quite in-depth review as it claims to be, and more of a "gotta get this vid out before other content creators do" . It briefly mentions something about "magnetic strip" around the edges of the stick, but it's too vague I have no clue if that means it's similar to Switch Pro 2 or not, some better youtuber will have to confirm that for us.
Basically few weeks ago I was looking into getting Pro 3, but then I realized that "a controller I want (change button layout) already exists (Tarantula Pro) so why don't I just buy that now?" and yeah it doesn't make much sense having to remove buttons to play a game where "equip" is more ideal to have on the "Left" than "Up" (especially when ABXY is not ideal for most of the other games), but holding 2 button combination for 1-2 seconds, count me in.
>>717642047 (OP)face button changing is completely worthless in the first place
>SIR
Not in a million years lmao
>>717643357It's not on switch, because not all games on switch have been ported for BAYX control scheme (the default control scheme of switch). It's more of a emulation gimmick (maybe) if you're playing Tarantula Pro on PC or Android, but on Switch it can legitimately make some games better
>>717643357but anon I need to change the face of the button.
>>717642047 (OP)What's even the point of swapping buttons if nothing changes inside the game? I hate the Xbox layout because I'm used to Nintendo's layout so I keep pressing the wrong buttons, changing the labels wouldn't help with anything since I'm not looking down at the controller when playing
>>717643543>What's even the point of swapping buttons if nothing changes inside the game?On switch, things change. I think this might be a problem on some switch games. Basically if you put ABXY controller like T3 Lite on switch, you jump with right button, when on any other controller you jump with down button (B on BAYX controller). Then there's some niche games / ports that didn't get ported to BAYX (Rockstar and some indies?) that play better with ABXY (action button is on the "left", as opposed to "top")
>the 5$ game plays slightly less optimal on default control scheme
yeah, totally worth the 60 bucks bro
>>717643643Does swapping the buttons change their functions? My problem is that the game will say "press the A button" and what's printed on the controller doesn't matter since I'll press the button on the right and not the bottom button
>>717643825>Does swapping the buttons change their functions? At least on switch it does, I haven't tried on other consoles. The default jump button "down / B" on Splatoon is on "right side" if I rotate to ABXY with tarantula, or I hook the fixed ABXY (t3 lite) controller. Splatoon is one game I don't think I'd ever want to play with ABXY scheme, I think. Imagine playing Halo 1 or 2 and the red button was the button for jumping, and the Y button was for reloading, that'd be kinda retarded
Are you that same anon that made a thread how third party controllers are better because they don't cause injury like switch pro 2 does? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B91WhedKOyU

>>717644685I'm not sure, but it was fun controller to use for a while, then I had to stop using it, and everytime I do use it I eventually run into some kind of problem. Let's just say it gives ease of mind to just eliminate this issue from equation entirely
Everytime I had run into a problem with the switch pro 2, I had to temporarily revert back to deltaco mini. Weirdly it's probably one of the smallest gyro controllers, so you can kinda play even splatoon 3 on it. The problems gradually go away because it's not only entirely different design controller than the aggressive grips of sp2 , but also much lighter which helps with healing
D-pad's gonna be better on the Pro 3 than on the Tarantula Pro, the Tarantula's d-pad was so awful that between that and the firmware-related latency problems they dumpstered the entire controller line because it was faster than rewriting the controller's firmware from scratch. They're reusing the shell design for a rubber d-pad version with an orange Charizard colorway and a white Xbox tie-in.
That said depending on your preferences the rubber d-pad for the future Tarantula Pro (probably the same as the one in the $20 Tegenaria Lite that just came out, which is pretty damn good for the record) might be better than the Pro 3's dome-and-membrane d-pad. I would be on the lookout for Gamesir's future Tarantula Pro models to see what they have going on for hardware in their refresh. The Tarantula in its original incarnation was a bizarre fucking nightmare of three or four different microswitch types on one controller, paired with rubber ABXY buttons and a flashy, but silly letter change mechanism.
>>717643540That's kino but are Gaymers this low IQ that they need something like this or swappable buttons?
I know GameSaar is a chink company but I hate jeets so much, I will never buy anything from them.

>>717643825No, OP is an actual honest to god retard. Swapping the buttons is aesthetic. You need to go into software to create profiles to swap the functionality or flip a switch in the back of the controller to put it in the different modes for connectivity like Switch mode.
Just moving the "A" button to the "B" button hole still makes that button labeled "A" function like the "B" button did when it was in that hole.
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM
SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR
>>717646969>You need to go into software to create profiles to swap the functionalitymaybe for PC and android, but on Nintendo Switch 2 , just pressing the button to rotate changes the functionality. "bottom" button is no longer the "jump" button. I noticed this with T3 Lite (fixed abxy controller), because on that controller BAYX games are all weird, and on that controller there's no way to configure it to BAYX afaik. I have some 8bitdo wireless 2c that's not mean to be used with switch, got some V2 adapter and that controller behaves like BAYX despite its ABXY writing, it's probably because the adapter reverts it into "bluetooth version's" functionality or something, cause that controller doesn't work on switch out of the box.
Why do they shill their shit here? Don't they know that nobody on /v/ actually plays games? This has to be one of the worst places to try and sell a gaming controller.

I wish Nintendo would make Switch Pro 1 controller with same materials and features as they did with SP2, because the material/textures and the features of SP2 are all amazing, it's just the design of those carpal tunnel syndrome inducing grips that kills the controller for me
>>717652572Oh yeah, and they'd obviously call the retro style SP2 as "Switch Pro 2 Classic" or something. Basically entirely same design as pro 1

Is the HuBen 2 decent enough?
I wanted capacitive sticks like the ones on the deck but unfortunately these are not going by the same definition, they're just "better than TMR". Which to me is kind of stupid, I already have TMR sticks on my dualsense and I don't think I need them to be just that good.
I have a mobapad M6 HD and if the buttons feel like that I'm going to pull the trigger no matter what, but I don't think I've seen anyone with both gamepads to test that out. The switches on the M6 HD are as soft as I ever wanted them to be.
Are newer "switch mode connected to PC" gamepads better with gyro? I know it needs steam input but I recall 8bitdo controllers being absolute dogshit with it.
I've seen people also mention that some other gamepads are better than this, but there's like 70 of them coming out every week. I just want something of a side or upgrade to my modded dualsense. I don't expect haptic feedback (it's whatever, I can't use it anyways on PC because there's only like 3 games that support it and I have to play wired) and I'm alright with changing the stick layout because I don't play a lotta d-pad shit often anymore (and I have more gamepads that are much better for that purpose).
BTW aside from the Hori Steam controller, are there -any- other controllers in the market with capacitive thumbsticks that will activate gyro? That would sway me. I don't want the Hori because it seems mostly dogshit and there's no rumble.
Anon that can touch type perfectly but god forbid he can learn 3 different button layouts with prompts that are often distinguishable enough ingame
>>717647597Eh it worked. I bought one thanks to /v/'s recommendation and it's way better than the overpriced DS5/Elite.
