The only people seething about summons are PVP fags butthurt that normal players enjoy playing the game for fun rather than rushing a minmax meta built to circle around eachother
These are the same people who eventually complain about "waiting for their turn" and "rollslop" since they're so committed to this mindset of PVP they can't fathom just messing around or trying something that wasn't in their step by step guide for whatever meta build they're doing

That was your Dark Souls experience, is what Miyazaki would say. He put in all these different mechanics and stuff with a sparse narrative so the events the player went through are their own. Those Chosen Undead that helped you were a part of your story, too. He would encourage you to see what else the game has to offer, but it's fine if that's all you wanted too.
