I want to buy a 3ds but there's too many versions. There's the XL model, the 2ds model, the "new" XL model, and then the 2ds XL model. Which one is considered the best for its value? On one hand the new 3ds XL has an extra analog stick which sounds nice but is it really useful? I could get a 2ds for 100 bucks cheaper.

New 3DS has better head tracking for the 3D plus better performance for homebrew stuff. Original model is fine if you don't care about that stuff. OG 2DS is really only good if you never plan on taking it out of the house.

It all depends on your use case. If you want to play pokemon x/y and then toss it in the box forever then it's 2ds for you, but if you are really into the idea of having that thing and you are going to squeeze every single drop off entertainment from it then buy the most expensive one

New 2ds XL is the one I have and it works great only downside is the top screen feels a little floppy which makes sense because it was the last model and it was cheaper than the others If you care about that get the new 3ds XL but the shitty part with that one is you need to unscrew the back Everytime you want to take the SD card out

I have a 3DS XL and a New 2DS XL. The notable thing about the N2DSXL is the battery is dogshit, my 3DS XL's still lasts far longer. Otherwise it's fine, I never gave much of a fuck about the 3D effects.

Only get a regular 2DS if you're budgeting and just want something that can play 3DS games, it has no hinge and is just a big wedge, but it's very inexpensive in comparison.

I've bought New 3DS LL from Japan two years ago with box in perfect condition and both screens are ips without any yellowing, cost me $160. 3DS is about the only console where actually owning the console is better than emulation. You don't get the 3D effect with emulation and you either waste huge amounts of screenspace because you need to display 2 screens on one monitor or need to switch screens constantly. You also have to switch between mouse and controller every time you need to do something on the bottom screen.
